Blogger/Wordpress vs. Squidoo/Hubpages

I have some articles I want to post on various web 2.0 sites for back linking purposes and was wondering what the difference is between sites like Squidoo/Hubpages, and Blogger/Wordpress? Actually, most often I hear them talked about as if they are basically the same but it seems to me there are some important differences between them.

    Blogger and Wordpress (I am guessing .org, so correct that if I am wrong) are Microblog platforms. You get access to your own subdomain with a full website.

    Squidoo and Hubpages are web2.0 properties. You get an account, and each individual page is it's own separate entity.

    Blogger and Wordpress would be a good place to set up a blog and discuss various sections of a large topic.

    Squidoo and Hubpages would be a good place to set up a one page blast of information.

    Blogger allows the use of Adsense, Amazon, and Affiliate Links. Wordpress has nothing against these things, but they are not built in.

    Squidoo and Hubpages discourage the use of affiliate links, and only share a piece of the earnings for Adsense and Amazon clicks. (I believe 60-80%, though this could have changed since I last checked)

      But, Hubpages and Squidoo have instant credibility with Google search, as well as tens of thousands of authority pages. So if you were looking for a backlink, this is where you would want to get it from. Another thing, as for the income potential, that is only dependent on how actively you publish there and how sociable you are with the other writers on the site. A lone blog could never earn as much as a hyper active Squidoo lensmaster.

        This may be true, but Google isn't going to click your ads or purchase your products, and they sure won't sign up to your mailing list and be long term customer.

        When you build your business with the thought of "Search Engine Optimization", you are putting SOFTWARE before PEOPLE. Search Engines are Software, programs created for a single purpose.

        Business is about presenting offers to PEOPLE that have interest or need. You can't sell a Fishtank to Google Search, but you can sell one to a Person that wants to start a home aquarium.

        So why would you focus your businesses attention on making Software happy, then the purpose of business is to make PEOPLE happy?

        I didn't respond to the question about the "Value of a Backlink", because there is no value in a link. The value comes when you present useful information to ACTUAL PEOPLE, and you capture their interest enough to share more information with them.

        This is why so many marketers fail in this business. They continue to fight for the happiness of Software over that of the People they should be helping.

    I personally never use Squidoo anymore...they pretty much disallow any sort of affiliate marketing and if they even think it is affiliate related they will simply delete your lens without warning. I wouldn't waste the time!

    Stick with platforms like Blogger, WordPress, Tumblr, Livejournal...easy to set-up and maintain.

      Squidoo and hub are nofollow. Perhaps to funnel some traffic,
      but I would not even bother.

      Wordpress is lame. I can't believe how many people use such
      a lame product. It's bloated, and a very lousy CMS to begin with.

      Google owns blogger. It comes SEO'd out of the box, exactly the way
      google likes things. Hands down, out of those 4, blogspot would be
      the way to go. No contest. Blogspot is just light years ahead of wordpress.

      Yes, you are right. Hubpages get your hubs reviewed and won't allow any promotional articles. Squidoo get you publish your article but after some days you again check the same article, you will find that it automatically goes back to unpublish mode.

    Blogger. No question. I've had them rank for fairly competitive keywords almost on their own. You'll probably run into situations where your blogspot blogs are outranking your own sites.

    you have really good quality content then i will recommend you to post in squidoo and hubpages. Why? because these websites have lots of traffic and if your post is really helpful to others then you will get the traffic as well as page rank also.

    Blogger and wordpress are best. And mostly wordpress because of the free themes available in it and the plugins that make your work easy. It is also user friendly, you can easily manage it.
