Massive Average Load Time Question

Hey guys,

I currently pay $97 to host a single domain with a premium Wordpress company to ensure my page load times are super fast. I have visited my blog and its articles from a number of locations and things load really quickly.

However, my Google analytics tells me that my average page load times are over 19 seconds which I can imagine is terrible for SEO (could be why my rankings have been dropping recently).

Any idea why this would happen?

Where are you placing the analytics code in your HTML? Example, the header always loads faster than the footer. Do you have a bunch of javascript loading in the HTML before the analytics?

      Hey!

      Thanks for your response!

Its being placed in the header, no other custom scripts being loaded before it. Its really strange because pingdom says all my pages load in under 4 seconds. But Google must be getting that data from somewhere and if it thinks that its that slow, it definitely won't rank my keywords very well.

      Really confusing!

What number are you exactly looking at? Complete page load?

A number of resons could affect the number. From an increase
in visitors from lame connections, or the selection sample being
        off.

I don't know if mobile would affect anything. Smartphones are smart,
but can be slow. Tablets tossed in as well.

It may not be your host. It could be a bunch of different issues with the website..ie - images aren't optimized (check this out for WP image optimzation), theme responsiveness, and a bunch of other factors..

Are you paying $97/mo to host your site? If so you are getting ripped off, especially if the website is slow.

And yes, it sounds like your site is rather slow loading. Have you tried this tool before?
