Penalizing a competitor site in Google

Hi all. A few weeks ago, I asked about what would happen if a blog (or blog network) is penalized and that blog has links to your money site. Seems like the overwhelming consensus to my question is that Google will also penalize your money site since the penalized blog has links to your money site. Here is my original question:

http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...oney-site.html

Based on this logic, can't I get my competitor's site penalized by putting a link to his/her site on an already penalized blog or penalized blog network? (I know there are other ways to get my competitor penalized, I'm just trying to understand more about Google).

For instance, when the BuildMyRank network was penalized, it would have made a lot of sense to put your competitor's link in the BuildMyRank network so Google would penalize your competitor. If it's that easy to penalize a competitor by putting their link on an already penalized blog site, wouldn't everyone be doing this?

I think it won't penalize directly but yes of course you will see a bit of effect on your website the reason is that somehow your site is related to that blog and if blog ranking will go down the for sure your website will have a impact of this.

If a backlink page/network is deindexed it's not a penalty for the sites/page they were pointing links at, it's link loss on the money page.

    Losing links isn't a penalty.

    Get new quality links.

What if the blog (or blog network) was penalized by Google but is still indexed? Does a portion of their penalty also transfer to your money site if they have links to your money site?

yes, you can affect the competitor sites by creating links, but they report to google that some one is creating bad links for website then they will affected. As per my advise you should focus on your site rather competitor sites that will help your websites more.

Correct, this has happened to 3 of our sites in one niche, 1 competitor posted bad links to each site and now we are working like hell to get the sites back to the position they were at before.

Concentrate on YOUR site, ignore the competitors and you will win, do not waste energy in revenge, it is wasted.

      Believe me, there is karma...
