I NEED YOUR HELP!!! (FB Question)

I recently opened a new FB account for advertising. My old account allowed me to target by interest using the hashtag. Th new account I have does not allow me to use hashtags.

I attempted to run some ads without using hashtags which just resulted in me blowing about $200 with no conversion.... I know these pages convert with the right targeting as I've been running them with profit for months.

Also my girlfriends account still allows her to target using hashtags so I know it's still an option. Unfortunately running ads from her account is not an option though.

For some reason my new accounts don't allow me to target with hashtags... Anyone having the same problem or know how to fix it?

    I think you should forget the hashtag. I believe (I could be wrong) that
    a hashtag is for anything and everyone who even mentioned or used
    #whatever.

    That's way too broad.

    Don't you want precise interest? Wasn't there a change a couple of
    months ago to the parameters?

    Maybe the fact that your gf has existing ads?

    I'm still not 100% sure how the hashtags work on FB. I agree with you about hashtags historically being way too broad.

    I realize that people can hashtag anything ... "#christmas gifts" or something useless like that.

    I've found that there are some precise interests that also have hashtag in front of them. Generally those with hashtag have a more narrow audience.

    For example the precise interest "Internet marketing" might have a potential reach of say 150,000 and then "#internet marketing" might have 50,000 potential reach....

    I just know there are a few hashtagged terms in the niche I'm targeting that have a more precise audience and perfom significantly better and for some reason my account won't let me target them.
