Pushing Traffic to New Doman (How Does it Work)

Hey all,

Basically I have an established Blog, about Technology, it gets like 1000+ Views a day, however the earnings ARE TERRIBLE.

What I want to do, is push the traffic I get (re-direct I think its called), to a new domain.

New domain will be very similar, but will have a focus on a store, with accompanying blog posts.

I'll be listing products, and writing about them etc (Amazon Affiliation mainly).

If I start to push the established traffic to a new domain, will I lose SERP's etc, and the traffic will slowly die?

Thanks

Rather than irritate your existing traffic by redirecting them, why not start to build a list from this traffic by offering them a free gift (technology review, best gadgets of 2013, or your must have's for 2014...) and then monetize your traffic that way.

You got to know first where this traffic is coming from. A re direct may not answer none of your questions. If the conversions are bad it could be a slew of different things going on. First see where your traffic is coming from and start from there.

      Hey there

I've attempted to build a list with the traffic before, but I didn't get a single signup. Most of the traffic is for things such as " How to Install "X" on the "X" " if that makes sense.

So little guide's etc, also I used to cover ALOT of news in Technology.

      Hey thanks for the reply.
My main traffic 90% + is from the USA.
And 100% of the Traffic is from Google.

      Is this what you mean?

      Thanks both !

Yes I've tried many different attempts:

      Amazon Affiliate
      PeerFly
      Adsense
      InfoLinks

Adsense works best, and by terrible I mean $10 monthly?

But I have a better setup in mind for a new site, but don't want the traffic from this site to go to waste, would the re-direct cause my old site to lose SERP's and therefor drop its traffic?

    Couple of points...

    1. Page views is NOT traffic. One visitor could account for a lot of views. I would pin down the daily # of actual visitors so you start from the right basis in terms of actual human beings seeing your site.

    2. You need to know more about what search terms are bringing you visitors from Google. You need an analytics tool that gives you that info. Knowing what search terms get people to your site can help you narrow down their likely true interests, so you can tailor your offers to that audience. Are they looking purely for info or are they doing searches for products/services? Is there any common thread in terms of likely intent you can glean from all the major search terms bringing you the traffic? That kind of analysis and subsequent revisions on your site could boost your conversions by a significant amount.

If the earnings are terrible there can be several reasons.

    The 2 most likely ones:

you are not offering what your visitors want

(example: visitors want to buy software and you offer toddler toys)

    or

your visitor are not interested to buy anything

(example: visitors wants to download software free and you try to
sell that software. That would be like offering a used car to a car thief.)
    Signature

Call Center Fuel - High Volume Data
Delivering the highest quality leads in virtually all consumer verticals.

Rather than messing with a new domain you would be far better off taking the suggestions already mentioned. Find out how many unique visitors you are getting, where they are coming from, what they searching for. Then answering the question they are asking. Maybe play around with call to actions if the traffic if after particular things. From your example you are getting mainly "How to Install "X" on the "X", so why not have a squeeze that says "Sign up here to get your free guide on How to Install "X" on the "X" just a example. Or even a call to action button which takes the user to another page which is specific to what they want.

Instead of redirecting.. try to build a new site.. ad banner and links to old site directing to new site.. this will help you to overcome ad spaces.. and your other site (new) will have some visitors from day 1.
