Best SEO for Multilingual sites or separate site per language?

Hi all,

I have a few sites in English that do well. I want to start the same in Spanish. Should I have one site with English and Spanish content or should I create new Spanish domains, register them in Spain with Spanish based hosting and Spanish office addresses, etc?

So, in a nutshell, what is the best for SEO-

One domain with multiple languages

or

Separate Spanish domains and English domains

Is there anything else I should consider?

Thanks

In my opinion it depends on what your domain looks like and the topdomain.
If you have a brand and a .com-domain a spanish subdomain like es.brand.com could work.
If you have brand.co.uk, es.brand.co.uk would be bad for seo and the domain would look suspicious to the users.

Also the CTR in the serps might be higher if you have a clean .es domain.

    I think I would buy a new es-domain.

I'd go for ccTLD. Make sure that the href lang code is implemented. Kill 10 birds with one stone by ranking via different Search engines.

    Google.fr, Google.ch, Google.kr, etc. etc.

Separated site with different Tld based on its location is better. Every website you have mean every sales-shop increase and have more exposure to get customer.

    hi,
I think you should buy another domain because multiple sites with different location is best.More websites more marketing means more income.Hope this helps.

In this case more website is not equal more traffic than include language versions within one domain.

You can use your existing domain and set up language version on sub directory. Even you can use sub domain also. Separate domain will be the nest solutions but it takes extra expenditure.

    Thanks

We have geographical TLDs for each foreign version of our site.
By the way, Google's John Mueller once said that TLD was generally a stronger signal than the server location - 10 Things Google Wished You Knew | Search Engine People | Toronto.
So, I believe that having an .es domain would be better than doing a subdomain.
