Website that lost ranking and now starting to recovery

Hello guys,
About a month ago we got in the webmaster tool a message that saying that we have unnatural links to the website.
We got drop from 200 keys that was in page 1-2 to pages 5-8.
We check our links and notice that someone links more then 1000 links to our site.

We apply for reconsideration request plus we send the file with the links to Google to ask to remove.

Yesterday we got message from Google that say : Manual spam action revoked.
We check today the ranking and we saw that from 3 keys that was in the first page, now we are with 24 in the first page. Very good improvement but still very far from the 130 keys that was in the first page a month ago.

I wanted to ask, what can we expect ?
Are we gonna get the lost ranking now ?
Is this happen overnight ?Maybe the big change will be in the next penguin update ?

Bottom Line, what is the chance to get back the ranking as we had before ?
This is the most important thing right now...

Any help or information will be happily welcome

    You may have accidentally removed links that were helping you. That would explain the drop for some keywords.

      I understand what you saying but,
      We had in the first page with 120 keys not because these links.
      The site rank really good, and then we got hit from negative seo with 1000 links.

      Less then one month after we explain the situation to Google and ask to remove the links, we got message from Google that the punish was removed.

      So in general i dont believe that these links are the links that gives us the ranking before...

      Or it's more like he was manually penalized by Google as told by his original post. It has nothing to do with removing links.

      Just hold tight, since your penalty was removed it can take about 4-6 weeks to see a full recovery. On my site that had a manual penalty removed I was able to regain my original rankings and even with link removal.

    Your site will recover, try accruing some more good links with outreach and stuff and monitor your backlinks with some tool like Monitor backlinks or linkody

    This will take some time. As suadron said you might have removed some good links. I had my manual action revoked and my rankings were not as they were before. I am building some good links + content and my ranking is improving again.
