Just curious if bookmarking is still valid for SEO. If yes here are some questions:

1. What are some of the best sites.
2. How does one bookmark one's site. Are all pages of one's site are bookmarked.
3. If yes is there a way to automate this process
4. Does it make a different if they are do-follow or no-follow

Social bookmarking is basically a directory of websites and webpages where other users can vote on them.

Since it's a very loose definition it can often collide with social network websites, whereas those interactions are referred to as social network signals.

    1) Reddit, Delicious, Stumbleupon, (and networks) Google+, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, Linkedin

    2) Most allow you to register an account and submit urls along with a title and description

    3) Yes, but software tends to only submit to limited # of sites and not all the top ones. A combination of top sites and automated is your best use of time

    4) Do follow is always in demand, but I wouldn't let that deter you from adding a social bookmarking website to your list

    • Thanks Matthew, what software would you recommend to automate the process. Do I change the description for each site.

Matthews advice is great, I would agree to use the sites he mentioned. I wouldn't recommend using those mass social bookmarking services as they submit you to websites that just aren't worth it.

I wouldn't waste time social bookmarking, there not going to rank you really. You need High Authority sites with juice pointing to your money site.

Personally, I wouldn't place a great deal of value on social bookmarks. You might use a sprinkling of them, but they aren't going to get great results. If you really must use them, then I'd suggest using brand/generic anchor text in all cases.
