Baidu is an eye opener. I used it today and found a lot of sites that Google deindexed last year. With Google you are only seeing approx 10% of the web or maybe a little bit more. A lot of web sites no longer appear. I am going to start using Baidu a lot more. Funny how no one is reporting this phenomenon in western press.
#baidu #eye #opener
  • Curious how that can be of help from SEO perspective. If less than 1% of potential customers come from Baidu how can it be of help

There is no way that I can imagine that Baidu provides a larger database than Google.

Baidu has to deal with censorship. Google does not.

You see the fault at what your saying

    Google deindexed

Why use baidu if only you would found sites that are not indexed on major search engines ?

      Doubtful that will happen.

Baidu is a country specific monopoly that's only strong in China because of the Chinese Gov running Google out of the country.

I don't think they will ever catch up with Google. They are forced to comply with censorship restrictions imposed by the Chinese government. They restrict the flow of information. Because of that, it will never be popular in the Western World.

The only reason it is #1 in China is because the Chinese government will not allow their citizens to use Google.

Strange thing. I see the baidu bot crawling my pages almost
        non stop.

I have yet to note one visitor from China that mattered, let alone
        a single visitor.

I get a lot of something or other from india, russia, pakistan, etc., but
        no china to speak of.

Who outside of China would actually use it?

And many people in China can use google fairly easily.

Yukon used to be sold on the stock. Google is now over $1150.
        Baidu still well under $200.

You missed out on a lot of money If you bought GOOG (Google) instead of BIDU (Baidu). I still stand behind Baidu stock & made way more money than If I had kept Google stock. I sold out of Google stock the day I watched the TV news a few years ago where China kicked Google out of the country. That's the worlds most populated country with a single new monopoly (Baidu). That's easy money.

Here's a 5 year comparison on stock price increase:
          • BIDU (Baidu) = +1,392.67%
          • GOOG (Google) = +285.83%

Which would you take +1,392% or a +285% return on your money? I took +1,392% (Baidu).

Just because Google's stock price is way higher than Baidu doesn't mean anything, the money is in the percentage increase. It's invested money x percentage increase.

The day China Gov lets Google do whatever they want in China, I'll sell out BIDU ASAP, because the monopoly will be gone, the money will dry up. I think we all know how stubborn China is, no way they'll ever let a US business dominate anything in China.

I don't use Baidu search because I don't trust them (China Gov controlling a business), lol, how's that for irony. All I want from them is money, not a new search engine.

Anytime you see a public traded business with a product/service monopoly, there's most likely a boat load of money in the deal.

Hard to do 5 year comparison, as baidu was a baby. Monetarily, you would
have made a lot more cash on google. Google stock increased more than
the price of a baidu share today. $700 on each share. Baidu is worth
less than $200. hard to compare % as well.

1 share google for $400, now worth $1100. $700 profit on each share.

The profit would be more than 3 times the price of a baidu.

Baidu has been stagnant and worth about the same now as in 2011.

Baidu really has not much growth potential outside china. They don't
really care. That's the thing. Google wants to make tons of cash.

The data on the comparison is right there. That's 5 full years of side by side data for both businesses (exact same dates on both).

That's the great thing about a business monopoly, they never need to grow, they just need to maintain momentum & keep cashing in. +1,392% return on investment is smokin! I don't care what they do as long as China Gov keeps Google out. It would big news If Google ever started gaining market share in China search (doubtful that will happen anytime soon). If for some odd reason Google gained in China search that's when it's time to cash out.

The stock price doesn't put money in your pocket, the positive earnings percentage plus your own investment, that's where the money is at (%).

You don't really see baidu going to get marketed internationally really.
    It's just on china.

Yes they have the largest users but what about paying consumers ? the paying consumer factor is a must if your really going to invest in it .

You should look on who and what investors / partnerships they have and well the market plans out to be and if they are going to go internationally just like google. But i seriously think they will just stick in china. No offense google wins this by a landslide.
