1000+ Visitors Monthly. 1600+ PageViews. How Can I Monetize The Site?

Well I have a website on food supplement. The site is on #4 in Google for a very competitive keyword. On first page almost 8 Adward ads and 4 Amazon affiliate sites are available. Still my site is ranking on #4. I am getting 1k+ traffic and 1.6k+ page view every month. I already put an Amazon affiliate link on ranked page. No sell yet now but people are clicking on my affiliate link. Now I am planning to use free spaces for advertisements so that I can monetize the site and I will not depend on Amazon solely. I think I can contact with frequently add providers like...

Hidemyass (VPN provider)
iPage (hosting service provider) ....

Now my question is what you recommend to earn some extra money using my website? Should I go only with Amazon or should I try some advertisements like HMA, iPage as mentioned above on the article page? Or there are some more exciting ways I am missing which could give me more money than my plans?

Unless you amazon products are over 2K in value I wouldnt bother selling them.

You could put a amazon link on the top of the page you get most traffic to get them to click through.. for instance.. click < hyper link> THIS) for the best diets.

I would suggest Click bank for you

Yes, I was thinking about adsense. But adsens often delete accounts without showing cause. So its not going to be very reliable one I think.

HMA serves food supplement ads on external sites?

Maybe sell ad space to the sites ranked below you. If you do that use javascript code for the ad links so your not helping them with SEO.

Good idea Yukon. Well can you give me some more idea to monetize my site? Also can you tell me how much should I charge for each ad on my page?

reinvest your profits into backlinks!! you'll get higher rankings and moar money.

or put some banners on your site and promote CPA offers since they pay more than amazon

You could approach relevant companies directly and sell 125 x 125 banner space on a monthly basis. Give them the ranking stats and traffic details and see what happens.

And if you want to make even more money offer to design their ads for them (the outsource them on Fiverr or eLance).

        An arm and a leg.

JUST KIDDING, if you couldn't tell.

Basically, you'll have to work out an acceptable CPM - i.e. cost per mille (thousand) page views. If you charge a CPM of $5, you are charging advertisers $5 for 1000 page views, or $0.005 for 1 page view.

But typically, you won't get bids for anything above $2 CPM.

    Only 1k+ traffic per month?
Really not much in that, sorry to say.
    All the best. Regards.

But if you manage to get more people on your website, and you don't do anything against the guidelines of adsense and Google your adsense will work fine. So you have to go for it.

      Collect their emails,
Split test with CLickbank/Affiliate Products from OTHER merchants apart from Amazon. Amazon commission is relatively low i comparison to many other aff programs.

I wouldn't do google, a few cents per click is not worth taking a visitor away from my website....

1000 a month in traffic is not a whole lot.

Most sites are lucky if they earn $5 per 1000 PAGE VIEWS.

focus on getting more traffic first.

    - my 2 cents

  • unless your site can sell things worth $1000s of dollars with that many visitors you wont make much. I am getting about $2.50 from every thoudsnd visitors through adsense. You really need more visitors.

Had a similar problem social demon,

Drop Adsense and Amazon. The most success I had was with Adsense and results were minimum at best even after driving 6K visits to 1 post last year via content syndication.

What I've done now is switch out monetization with advertisements from BSA (BuySellAds.com) which is what I'd recommend doing.

Sold my 1st ad last month so I think:
    (a) Selling advertising and
    (b) Creating a product or membership site around the site is a good way to go.

Once in a while you'll also have people approaching you for contextual links especially if your domain has a high PR (PageRank) so I guess selling links "unofficially" would be (c)

Haven't started with (b) Own product for the site yet but as far as (a) selling advertising goes:

    1) Try to build a social gathering around your website especially on Twitter since BSA allows you to sell Tweets.

    2) Give your advertisers the best spots and tell them that when you create the ads at BSA and these are:
    i) 300x250 spots above the fold top right (Selling this one at the moment for $29 PM)
ii) 250x250 contextual banner ads in the top left of every post ($49 PM - Gets a lot of clicks but no buyers yet)

Also make sure to add your traffic stats on a separate page yoursite.com/advertise. You can use seethestats.com for that, so advertisers can actually see the traffic you're getting via pie charts.

    So in a nutshell:
    - Add an advertising page on your site and add traffic stats from seethestats.com
    - Sign your site up to BSA (BuySellAds) = Short term monetization goal with advertisers and
    - Go long term with your OWN product + membership site. Build a list, survey them and build a product around that.

    Hope that helps.
