So I go out and get

greenfurniture.net

Target keyword for the site soon to be developed would obviously be green furniture.

How do I go about this optimized?

Should I do the index page optimized for "large green furniture" and greenfurniture.net/green-furniture for "green furniture" ?

Does it make sense?

P.S. "green furniture" is a fictional keyword

Thanks in advance

Personally, I'd use the homepage to target "green furniture" in that instance. However, given the domain name and the nature (and anchor text) of the inbound links that you are likely to attract, I wouldn't be looking to over-optimize that homepage.

i suggest you do not create the page with green furniture, but you can add the quality content on home page with long tail keywords. your home page will start ranking as well. you don't need to create that page.

Be careful with naming your categories as they show up on every page (navigation or sidebar) and thus your keyword density increases.

      I would avoid using:

      - green furniture in the category names.
      - using it in tags, or in fact don't use tags at all.
      - putting it in the footer like: green furniture 2014 (c)

That way you prevent onpage over optimization.

Everything works together in balance so the less often you use it on your page the more often you can use it as external back links.
