Also, one of the best ways to learn SEO is to find people who are GOOD AT IT, pay them money to do SEO for you, then copy what they do.

I've been reading about SEO for 2-3 years now but I ultimately learned how to rank sites by paying a "pro" and watching how they built links, what types of links, how they did their anchor text, etc etc. Then I tried to copy what they did. I failed a few times but kept on trying. And if you don't stop testing / tweaking you'll learn its not actually hard to do.

Its "not easy" to rank for highly competitive keywords. But there are millions of keywords out there that don't take much of anything to rank for. So if you develop good keyword research skills, that can compensate for your weakness / inability to rank sites.

And once you learn how to do that, you'll realize its actually very easy.

Well, first you should see where you are. How is your on-page SEO? Are your sites indexed and what are your SERP positions for major keywords you want to rank for?

After you know where you are you might be able to ask a question that can be answered. If you don't understand what I'm talking about try the search (WF or Google).

Start SEO with basics, I mean with On page optimization. Once you're sure that your website has implemented perfect on page optimization techniques, then move to link building techniques. Focus on building links from high authority and relevant websites.

I agree with the above, start by optimizing your site.(Site speed, optimize tags for long-tail keywords, etc) After you've fully optimized your site, make sure your sitemap is submitted and add it to your Google Webmaster Acct/Bing Webmaster acct. From there just create some great content and creative ways to gain natural backlinks. You may also want to make sure your added to local directories and have a strong social media presence.(From what I here social media is becoming more and more important.) Best of luck! =)
