If I type this into Google, linksonamiIamLookingFor,com, can I believe it when I see 'About 1,990,000 results (0.41 seconds)'?

Well Google is just a database.

    So the question is..

Does Google have infrastructure in place for a query that takes only 0.41 seconds to check how many items are there for that query?

    Which I'm sure they do.

    A plain English explanation.

Google has 1,990,000 known pages linking to DonamiIamLookingFor,com, so when you search, you make a query to ask Google how many known pages has Google stored for that query.

They return that the known number is 1,990,000.

    That takes 0.41 seconds.

To believe a domain has that many links?

Here's the number Google have: https://www.google.com/search?q=link...nks:google.com

Browse a few of the search pages and you'll see that most don't link to the site in question.

The links command is as buggy / flawed as it can be.

I get 214,000 results for a site that has only 70 back links.

Keep in mind that search result number is also counting Supplemental SERPs, stuff nobody will ever find.

How about Majestic or Ahrefs? They both also tell you if the backlinks are good or not.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

        What's your excuse?

Your the one talking about search results count.

Why are you searching links: on Google SERPs & talking about PR now?

        Are you drunk?
