Need opinions and an Idea

Hello everyone, I've always been the one to make a website based on one niche. I had an older domain lying around so I decided to test just make random posts about random subjects like weight loss, gaming, etc. and at first I was just choosing keywords to create hop links to affiliate products but I had a better idea. What if you were to just start generating unique content without ANY type of affiliate links or ads until you started to see the post getting searched for. Once you started getting SE traffic from an article, go back and edit it with affiliate links, would this be worth the time investing? My site is new so I don't expect to get any SE traffic just yet, but I think this would be interesting.

I monetize my sites once I achieve desired SERP or when I see I a nice traffic flow. One thing I don't understand is why do you shake so much with niches, why don't you simply choose one niche and then write posts under its umbrella on micro niche level. This way you have better chances to grow up in authority site and rank it high on SERP, than with the broad magazine you are trying to make.

i'd definitely wait till there's a decent, consistent search volume before monetizing the niche site.

Also, like the above poster, go for a micro niche and throw out valuable, specifically related content so you have more chance being an authority.

There's a lot of money to be made like this!
