I just wanted to say thank you to Warrior Forum as a whole, i've been reading through strategies and learning SEO for a few months now and I'm stoked to say I finally have a couple good keyworks now ranking in the top 20!

I know I know, it's not that exciting compared to you guys who have hundreds of KWs ranking up there, but it's validating to know that I'm on the right path. I really love SEO, and IM in general- I can't wait till I have the experience to be able to give back to you guys for everything ya'll have taught me.

Thank you!

I'm really not the person to be asking, but I mainly focused on private blog networks, both with expired domains and web 2.0. I saw my first rankings with web 2.0 and then bought 5 expired and used their authority to help push to the front page.

A word of advice, do some heavy research on buying expired domains. I made the mistake of jumping into it after just a little bit and I'm pretty sure I'm going to lose all of mine because they have very few referring domains. But as of now they are doing their job.

        Good luck!

Few referring domains is not a problem if those links remain and it's often fairly easy to tell whether this is the case.

For instance, is the link within a news article that will never be changed?

Does it say when the page was last updated and if so how long ago was this?

Are there quite a lot of outbound links on the page? If so the chances of them manually checking all of them is low.

I think you'll be doing just fine with many of your domains...

Thank you for the tips, I'll go back and check them out a little deeper. It would be nice if they stuck, I wouldn't feel like such a schmuck for wasting money! I've bought a couple more already that I know are good, but I had to pay a tad bit more because others knew they were good also and there was some bidding going on.

You're telling me, just when I think I know how to do something properly, I come across a bit of new information that puts a whole new spin on it. I think that's why I love all of this so much, I can spend the rest of my life learning and it will just keep evolving.

I just have to keep reminding myself to take action, even if I don't have the whole picture. Otherwise I'll never get anything done and just be reading warrior forum and blogs all day long

2 of my domains come back with this when I plug them into Open Site Explorer:

The URL you've entered redirects to another URL. We're showing results for madeupurl.com since it is likely to have more accurate link metrics. See data for myactualurl.com instead?

This is what makes me think, especially with these two, that the PR and authority will disappear soon.

To be honest, when I first purchased them I didn't know about DA at the time and was just looking for PR3 domains. I've since read a ton more and realize now that PR may not be the best indicator.

I now check the sites Anchor text diversity, DA, TF, CF, and do an INFO: and google check. I use both PR Powershot and register compass, but I can't seem to find any domains that are worth it that are within the price range people talk about grabbing all the time. A PR2 with a DA of 30 going for $100??

Most of what I've read has said PR2-3 no more than $50, but that can't be right! I'm on these two tools everyday scouting for these kind of deals but can't seem to get lucky, while others talk about finding them on a daily basis.

    Any insights?

Oh right so you mean they might not have even had actual links in the first place - this is a whole different matter. In which case yes you may well have bought a couple of donkeys there with little or no value in them.

I personally have a different approach to finding expired domains and the most important thing to me is not necessarily what the metrics are but where the links come from. If there are links that I'd never stand a chance of landing myself then it might just be worth buying (for example a link on a .gov internal page).

It still had a few links, but not as many as the site it redirected too.

Thank you for your help! I'll look out for .gov and high value links for now on.

I've also gotten many tips and help from this forum. And even more importantly I've started take action. Before joining WF I didn't even track my own SERP positions properly.

So thank you from me too.

In top 20 still is not different from top 30 or top 40, you need to effort more, because only top 10 you really get more traffic from search engines.

You could start your own thread, but do bring some basic information about the project, a bit better (as in not overly broad) questions, and your crash helmet because it might bet a bit nasty. You're advertising SEO so some users may not take newbie questions too kindly.
