Finally Moved Over to eCommerce

It took me a while but I've finally got my main site switched over to an eCommerce site where I'm selling my own products (downloads). Paypal was a pain to setup (automated security issues) which is what took me so long.

This was a lot of work switching over the site to WooCommerce but it was worth it considering I'm now making all my own rules & setting my own prices. I dropped Adsense a while back due to all the irrelevant local ads.

Making the first few sales with my own prices has me totally interested again in my old sites, reminds me of the days years ago when I first discovered earning money online, only the eCommerce part makes the possibilities unlimited for creating new products ($$).

It's kinda funny, working long days creating your own product doesn't even feel like work, I'm tired (long day) but it's very motivating to have the site switched over. I won't be running any affiliate networks on this site & I'll eventually phase out the last CB affiliate product on one of my smaller sites to make room for my own products.

If you've ever wanted to sell your own product with a shopping cart check out WooCommerce, it's awesome.

It's hard to say without giving up the niche. It's downloadable files, has nothing to do with IMers or the IM niche. I target traffic looking to enter the niche as a hobby or small business owner. Even well established small business owners are subscribers/traffic so it's one of those niches where people constantly return to the site (evergreen). The cost to entry for this niche is broad, $1k to well over $100k.

I've been in this niche for years, I just got burnt out for a while. Anyways, I'm working on new products.

I did Adsense & CB for a few years (phasing CB out). The downside for any affiliate product is you have to play by other peoples rules, at least selling your own product lets you go in any direction you want (no rules).

I still have my Adsense account, just not doing anything with it.

If you ever need a shopping cart for your own site, skip everything else & try WooCommerce. It's easy to use & it's free so you really have nothing to lose. I tested a few other carts but they were either junk, outdated, no support, or complicated.

I'm very surprised you've switched from a shopping cart to WooCommerce but if you've got it working to your standards then great.

I work heavily with OpenCart and it can do amazing things, I find it easy but thats just me.

WooCommerce is a shopping cart & works great with Paypal. Each item is added to a cart on my site, when the buyer is finished shopping & clicks the checkout button the order is tallied & collected form info. on my site is sent to the Paypal checkout page. That way I get all the buyer info. in two places, the backend admin. on WP/WooCommerce + Paypal.

I can even throttle download counts per each paid product/file to keep people from sharing the download links.

I'm selling downloads so I didn't need all the shipping options. I did have to tweak the functions.php file a bit which only took a few min. If I ever decided to ship physical products later on I still have that option available since it's built in for collecting buyer info.

          WooCommerce is everything I needed.

            Hi yukon,

            Welcome to the party.

WooCommerce is a great place to start for someone in your shoes. It's built on WP, which I know you are already very familiar with, and since you are selling info products it will have everything you need.

Now that you have made the jump to the world of eCommerce and shopping cart platforms, you will soon see that you options for making money are virtually unlimited. Once you build up your eCommmerce knowledge, you can easily move into physical products, perhaps starting with offering your products on DVD and/or printed books, posters, etc. You may be suprised to discover how many of your customers are willing to pay extra for a physical printed hard copy of your info product.

It's only a hop-and-a-skip from there to selling virtually all types of physical products via drop shipping, or using a fulfillment service.

I have a physical product/niche in mind but that will have to wait until I get this site running smooth. Maybe later this year. What I was thinking is selling a product as a kit, I buy multiple items after an order is made on my site, repackage the multiple items as a single product (no brand names), markup 50% of my cost. Maybe keep some in stock depending on sales. Just an idea right now.

I'll say the localized ads suck. They had to change something back in July 2013, that's when I first started noticing CTRs dropping. I would probably still be running Adsense If they would let us opt out of local/irrelevant ads. Lol, the first time I seen an Adsense ad (incognito browser) on my site for [city] septic cleaning I was pissed off.

Anyways, I'm glad I'm selling my own stuff now, no rules or irrelevant ads to deal with.

                I had a good run.

The funny thing about that is that only encourages MFA quality blogs where you don't care about the site.

                    I don't see a connection with MFA.

My point was I do care about my site & don't want irrelevant local ads on my site. How does that insinuate MFA?

Anyways, the problem was dealt with.

I thought they let him out when he narked out Adwords for letting him sell that stuff. The article I read a while back said he was banking $100K per day ($1K per sale).

Everyone's walking around jacked up on water. He even said he had real testimonials claiming the stuff worked. Hilarious...

Reminds me of Hans & Franz on Saturday Night Live.
