Same Ranking in Google 1/3 of impressions/clicks

Hey,

Have been really boogling with this for a couple weeks now.

According to GWT since the 5 of januari i have got 1/3 of the impressions and clicks for a certain keyword, but that keyword still have the same ranking in google. And that is checked with diffrent trackers and incognito mode.

During the 3 months i can track in GWT in November and december i had the following stats daily.

3000 impressions, 300 clicks, rank in google "3"

And since the 5 of January the stats are the following

1000 impresions, 10click, rank in google "3"

The thing is that this happened completly on the 5 of jan and the drop was imediate.

So what could be the cause of these stats? Just that some month are really bad for that keyword, or could it be somthing else?

Im sitting in a smaller county and i basicly only get visitors from that country so its not that i have lost ranking on one of google countrybased engines either.

    Where did the 300 clicks come from? Was it a random backlink or website mention?

    Im not sure if the keywords is seasonal, its in the dating niche (non adult)

    Those 300 clicks that i mentioned is all from google.

    I can add that terms that are very closely related to the keyword havent changed in impressions and clicks.

    With very "closely" i mean the diffrence between "carsite" and "carsites" so i have my doubts that i would be a seasonal keyword.

    Go check trends.google.com for your keyword, see if there is a drop in searches during this time of the year. This is how you know if it is seasonal.

    Also if your traffic is usually canadian, and you are an american, then the ranks might have dropped in Canada?

      Yeah i have alredy checked trends and there is no big fluctation.

      As i mentioned in my first post i only get visitors from 1 country.

      Im completly lost here!
