Where should my back linking focus be?

Hi guys,

I have narrowed it down to 3 keywords that I am going to be pursuing. All three have similar search amounts and conversion rates.

It turns out I am already at the top of the second page of google without doing any back linking (just blogging for 2 weeks) for one of them.

Should I be focusing my back linking efforts on the keyword that is already ranking relatively well or should I be focusing on the other two that aren't in the top 10 pages of google yet?

Thanks in advance!

~Sean

Since the one page is already ranking quite well for one keyword, now go and crank out 2 more pages focusing on the other 2 keywords.

Remember Google ranks pages, not sites so I think its much better and faster to target one keyword per page. But since you are already ranking quite high without any SEO, it will be fine to target all 3 keywords on one page. Obviously up to you.

Build the links while consistently changing the anchor text to 1 of the 3 keywords, this will appear normal to Google and you shouldnt get slapped by some filters.

    All the above.

And, assuming the keyword is profitable or beneficial, why stop at just a single good ranking? Why not try to get 8 out of the 10?

Let's put it another way...Let's say you have 3 keyword phrases, although virtually every word on the pages is really a "keyword" (not counting "stop" words).

There's 10 Top 10 spots for each keyword.

    3 x 10 = 30

There's 30 Top 10 spots and your goal should be to get as many of them as possible. This means you need to expand your network of sites. You can buy more domains and cheap hosting, or you can use tons of free resources like Squidoo, Hubpages, Blogger, etc.
