Through the adwords keyword tool you can look up the estimated search volume of a keyword.

You can choose Country + Language. Although lets take the Netherlands for example

You'll get google.com (automatically demographic in dutch) And you have google.nl Both have different rankings.

From which engine are the searchvolume statistics at google Adwords?

    I am just thinking out loud here.

    Isn't google.com anyone using google.com with dutch as language, and google.nl (if you don't set language all people who search at google.nl)?

    The search volumes would be different.

    Easier to find examples with other languages like Spanish.

    E.g.
    Lets say you have someone who is Spanish speaking in the US.
    Their language preference might be Spanish, but they want sites and information for the US, so they use google.com .
    They would register as google.com searches, with Spanish as language, thus being a subset of the US search volume.
    If instead they are visiting Spain, and search at google.es then the search volume for Spanish speaking searches in Spain would be used.

    This is my theory, so take it with a pinch of salt as I don't know if this is true. just my guess on why you are getting different numbers.

    google.com with a dutch ip will result into dutch trackings.

    google.nl is another engine on its own. different rankings. also harder to rank.

    I'm not playing with any language settings at all FSohlberg, but thanks alot for collaborating, i appreciate it!
