Is their a reason why i should rank a blog if i can just use my list as traffic. I was thinking about making the fact that only my list and whom they invite have access to my blog makes it exclusive and would give them the feeling of value that they have access to a private resource.

Does anyone have experience with this concept?

Well it depends, the exclusiveness can be a good way to get people to invite friends but you've got to make sure you have really valuable content that people will want to share. If not then you won't be getting any traffic at all.

If you rely on Google to provide random run in (one time only) traffic, then you don't really own your traffic. The key is to get the people coming in from Google search to stick around for more than that one time. This can be done by capturing names/email addresses on your site. This is true even if the person came to your site via Facebook or Twitter. Keeping them coming back is the key and an email list allows you to do that.

What do you need the website for? If you're mailing content that's not in your blog you've essentially done the same thing without the hassle of getting someone to click a link.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

If you rank your blog, you have the opportunity to add to your list. What do you think the chances of getting people to drive traffic to your blog for you are. I would say that few if any would do that unless there was something in it for them.

Apparently you already have traffic sources besides the SERPs otherwise you wouldn't already have a list of subscribers.

The question is, do you need more traffic besides the current list traffic? If your ok with your current traffic volume, don't worry about the SERPs.

It's a good idea.. But a possible problem could be that after a few advertisements most of them will STOP even opening your email if you ONLY sell a product... Try giving them something... An ebook, a free report, pictures, etc. Something they will NOT be able to get free (or at least they do NOT know how to do it!)
