how many backlinks on forums

hello!!

I have recently discovered somebody within my niche, making many backlinks on one and the same forum. Now I am wondering, how many backlinks are really profitable from 1 and the same forum? is how more the better? or does 1 backlink have the same effect??

would love to hear opinions!

    IMO the first link has the most significance in terms of PR and the followed by links may help you build the traffic.

    Unless you are using a forum for direct traffic, such as to get people to click on your signature link, then you will only need one forum post that has the signature line enabled for SEO purposes. To prevent your signature line from showing on all but one post, simply disable the "show your signature" box which appears beneath each post. This will give you one solid backlink from the site.

    I can tell you from real experience & 3,000+ same niche forum links, forums will not rank a page.

    The majority of forum threads will be very low authority (If any authority at all), you'll be lucky If those pages ever reach a PR0-1 (weak). If the forum pages ever did reach a decent PR level it's doubtful you'll get a link on the page because of the pagination used on forums (multiple pages per thread).

    Forums are great for same niche direct traffic but they blow for SEO.
