Hi,
I have a question about Google's keyword planner and would appreciate some help.
So I know that the keyword tool has been replaced by keyword planner, but my question is how do I access it?
It asks me to sign in to my adwords account, which I don't have, but I did sign up from my Gmail account into adwords.
But now its asking me about the budget ,the campaign and billing info.

I don't really want to run an ad campaign, I just want to research some keywords.

Am I missing something here, or do I have to give in my credit card information to access the keyword planner?

When you're on that screen, you should see a 'tools' menu on the top - click on that and you'll see keyword planner pop up.

Let me know if you still can't find it and I'll make a screenshot.

Which screen? This is how I did it. I typed Google keyword planner in Google and was presented with the screen saying you need to sign in to your adwords account. There was no tools menu on that screen. So I signed up with my Gmail account, but it took me to a screen which had the menu: about your business, your first campaign, billing and review.
Here I have to put in details, daily budget and my credit card information, it wont let me click "continue" till the information is filled.
I feel so silly right now, I am sure its right under my nose
      Help.

Also the default results tab is 'Ad group ideas'. You want to select the 'Keyword ideas' tab.

Same problem, I just posted a new thread with almost the identical question, but in my case I downloaded the FREE trial of Market Samurai, and it won't let me research keywords without an active adwords account.

I don't get it, I have tried almost every tab under tools in the new adwords planner dashboard... I'm just trying to see "How many times a keyword is searched for monthly?"

All it does is suggest bid amounts, competition... but it doesn't just show you exact search results, etc... To make matters worse, neither Traffic Travis or Market Samurai will work, because it keeps saying; "cannot login to adwords account."

I am assuming until you put funds into adwords, and create an ad... none of these other 3rd party keyword tools will work!?

1.) How can you create an adwords "ad campaign" (*and active your account) if you don't already have a website to send the traffic to?

2.) Thus, how can you use Traffic Travis or Market Samurai to do research on a niche, so you can buy a domain and create a website?

        G pisses me off sometimes!!!

Use "yourkeyword" to search for the exact match terms.

Using keyword planner tool is available without the deposit.
I don't know how to get accsess for Traffic Travis or Market Samurai as I don't use them. Hope that helps.

I apologize as I am not trying to hi-jack 'pinks' thread, but when I log into adwords> tools> keyword planner

I then enter my 'keyword' to get traffic estimates, such as

            [exercise equipment]

It then states: "please enter a bid amount to see results"

...and even when I enter a $10 bid amount, it doesn't display "How many times people search said keyword term(s) - in this example [exercise equipment]

            Instead, it displays the following:

At the top of the page you should see menu items: Home, Campaigns, Opportunities and Tools. Under Tools is the Keyword Planner

I guess to reach that page I need to create that campaign and give my billing info, since I cannot enter goggle adwords till I don't complete those steps(campaign, billing etc.)Maybe it is different for people who already have an adwords account, but now they ask for all this info before you get access.

Can you tell me how its working for you? I mean did you just log in and saw the menu today? Because for me it just does not let me go past the 4 steps of setting up the campaign.

    Ok,
I finally saw the "tools" menu.
For anyone who faces the same problem in keyword planner I will summarize what I did.

The first thing I did was changed my browser the Google Chrome. I don't know if that helped, but its worth a try if you can't get in from Internet explorer.

After searching for Google keyword tool free, I was directed to the keyword planner page.
After clicking on keyword planner, it got me to a page which said sign in to adwords account.
Here there were two options : "New to adwords" and "I am an advanced adwords user"(or something like that)
I clicked on the "I am an advanced adwords user" and then it skipped the steps of billing
information and took me directly to adwords account(I had to sign in with my Gmail account
Once I was inside my adwords account, I could see the tools menu in which there is the keyword planner.
The reason I could not see the tools menu and not get into adwords account before was that I was signing up as "new to adwords", so it wanted me to set up my campaign, billing information etc.
    Hope that helps.

Wow this is a lot of dialogue and work around something easy. You can just create an adwords account. Then you can access the tool easily. You do NOT have to fund your adwords account but you will have access to all the adwords tools such as the Keyword Planner and the Display Planner (even if you are not using the display network you can find some really good money keywords using the display planner tool).

I think ultimately Google wants everyone to use adwords... that is why they kept the tool free.. but (to my knowledge) you must create an account first. I have several with no money in them and only use for the Keyword planner and other tools for directional analysis.

    Hope this helps.

Because its so easy, its more frustrating when you cant figure it out. As I said before, I could not just sign in to adwords and access the "tools" menu. If I could then there would be no need for this thread
You get access to the keyword planner tools menu, only if you sign in as an advanced adwords user. Then it skips the process of creating the ad campaign and billing info.

"Google, Google, Google", kinda like the wizard in Oz. Except here the man behind the curtain does have power, lots of it! Anyway if you have a "GMail" or other Google type account (I am not sure if "YouTube" qualifies) you can get to the keyword planner. And you can do it without setting up a campaign. I searched Adwords and got to it by following but never executing the training links finally I ended up here:
        https://adwords.google.com/ko/Keywor...09243&__o=cues.
I don't know what is enclosed in the link but this is the technique I used.
        Good luck!

Lol. The best for Google - may be. But not for other search engines. This tool has as a basis Google search results, so. It`s perfect for Google only.
