Am I crazy to try and get into supplement reviews?

I use beachbody (p90x, insanity) products and am thinking of getting into supplement reviews, but I'm hesitant because I know it is already super competitive. I have a low-mid level knowledge of SEO from my previous site but looking for the next opportunity.

I would be reviewing products like herbalife, beachbody's shakeology, and these smoothie type products (staying away from diet pills, traditional protein shakes, ect).

Has anyone tried this and given up based on sheer competition? My plan would be to write something like 30-40 blog posts reviewing products in the space, guest post, article directory, youtube, and social media.

Really looking for someone to say "no, you're wasting your time" before I waste my time

It might be a good idea to target a specific sub-niche since the overall niche has a lot of competition.

    Example:
I have no idea If that example keyword gets traffic, I didn't research it. My point is saturate a sub-niche, in this case anyone searching for any variation of the keywords (p90x, beer, belly).

Once you do some keyword research & find a root keyword, you can search Google for ideas to build new internal supporting pages that all link back to your root keyword page. The asterisk symbol (*) will help with finding relevant keywords/phrases.

    Hi,

I use to do SEO for a supplement company. It's competitive but there is good money in it!

Some tips I would recommend for doing supplement reviews are:

    * Do Video! People don't want to read and are a lot more engaged with video
    * Do Supplement A Vs Supplement B - There is a lot of search volume around comparing supplements I would do supporting articles around this.
    * Make sure your review covers everything! In this niche people care about the "pump", taste, results, ingredients, warnings, etc. Be sure to include them all.
    * Start in a specific niche - Pre-workouts, Fatburners, etc and then slowly expand.
    * Make sure your content is unique! In this niche a lot of people just copy the description from the manufacturer. This makes you look the same as everyone else! Write your own content and you will be well ahead of all the copy cat descriptions.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.
