Hello, my doubt is: do dropdown CSS styled menus have any disadvantage from a SEO perspective?

Quite a few Wordpress themes use drop down CSS styled menus.

One I've just looked at has all the links shown in the HTML so they'll be picked up by the search engine robots as normal links. So if that was why you had doubts, you should be OK.

Of course, there are arguments both ways as to whether or not that kind of menu is user friendly, including whether or not it meets any disabled access legislation requirements but that's another issue entirely.

      Ariel,

This will have no effect on your SEO, in fact it will help because Google actually likes CSS websites ever since the last update. Just make sure your menus are relevant to the keywords you are tar-getting and you will be good!

There was no update about CSS websites. Google has never had a problem with HTML/CSS. I don't know what update you are talking about.

Dropdown menus coded in HTML/CSS are fine. All you have to do to prove it to yourself is find one and take a look at the text version of the site in the Google cache. You will see all the items in the dropdown listed.

Like Mike said all you have to do is look at the Google cache (text version).

If there's no cache, use this firefox plugin to simulate a cache by turning off javascript, CSS, images.

    Download the browser plugin.
    • Disable all javascript
    • Disable all images
    • Disable all styles

This is a really good question. I recently transferred all of my links to a CSS style drop down menu. I haven't found any information claiming to hurt your SEo, pagerank, and crawler stats. My fear is for the mobile community accessing the drop down menus.
