The Angela Experiment: aka Let's gang up on Angela thread
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

So Angela sent out an email talking about how in one week, you can get your link on the first page of Google with a keyword(s) that has less than 400,000 search results, 1 Go article with the keyword and link and at least 30 Highrank PR backlinks. So as of yesterday, I am trying the experiment!

I used one of Angela's keyword examples but with a slight twist.

1. Pick a product that solves a problem. I signed up as an affiliate under Clickback and picked the product "Panic Away" (also given as an example by Angela) which has a very high gravity score and big commission.

2. I went to the free keywordtracker and typed in the word "Panic." Angela used the sample keyword "Panic Heart Attack Symptoms" but I switched it around. I chose: Panic Attack Heart Symptoms. It has 313 searches daily with only 313,000 search results. (of course this does change daily)

3. I wrote one article about Panic Attack Heart Symptoms, and submitted to GoArticles with my keyword and Clickbank affiliate link.

4. I used Angela's backlink packet for May as well as purchased additional backlinks from her service to point to my keyword and link.

5. In one week...we shall see if I am on the front page of Google. Stay tuned!

UPDATE: July 24th, 2009: Checked Google this morning and lo and behold--my article is #2. It took a little bit longer, but it did work.

Hey, your article should easily sit on page one. There are only 6 competing sites. Google's keyword tool shows "not enough data" under search volume.

I'm sure your experiment will work for such a low competition keyword, but next time try doing proper keyword research.

just to get it clear, are you linking to the article published on "go article"? why don't you link to an independent blog?

I am experimenting as well. I'm using a Market Health Product. I have written 5 articles with keywords I'm hoping will convert. I'll post my results here in about 2 weeks or so.

Good luck with that.

The less competitive the term the easier it is to rank. PERIOD.

I posted a long tail phrase on a Forum and it was indexed in 40 minutes! It was 5 words long. And it was in position 7 or 8 on the first page.

So there you go. Low competition. Work on quality targeted incoming links.

The real challenge is converting the traffic you do get into buyers.

Re: The Angela Experiment

That is exactly right. As a matter of fact I'm changing the way I'm doing things a bit. After just doing extensive kw research I've picked 5 names of products on Ebay with low competition and high search results.

All keywords are less than 325,000 competition without quotes and 25,000 results with quotes. Awesome! The search count is no less than 6,000 searches a month as well.... This seems to be a huge market! Wow! If this test is successful I'm going to build a blog.

I actually just hired a writer to write these for me. I'll get them back in about 7-10 days max.

After that, the fun begins. I'll be using both Paul's and Angela's links. My goal is to get all of these articles to pos 1 on google. I'll post my results here.

Cheers!

Yes--because GoArticles have a reputation for indexing quickly and having high PR. And they allow affiliate links.

As a Keyword Research Tool I generally use Micro Niche Finder, and it's real that GoArticles have a fastly indexing connected with high PR, so it converts better and faster than EzineArticles and others.

You can achieve the first three position on Google just using terms highly researched but with a low competition.

I suggest always to link the articles to a frank review site or to a free report to get a lead.

Goodbye.

I think this is a cool experiment - thanks for sharing belgirl!

I noticed that when I search for "Panic Attack Heart Symptoms" (without the quotes) that a goarticles article is #7. I don't think it is yours though, 'cause it looks like that person is going for "panic heart attack symptoms" . That articles has only 8 links (according to Yahoo) so you should be able to outrank it pretty easy, I would think.

Well I did notice on a couple that they are not allowing "sigs" anymore or I couldn't type in my Clickbank affiliate url--I had to use tiny url to disguise it. Which sites removed your profile?

Belgirl, I actually do not remember. I deleted the e-mails out of anger...
Oh well it was only a couple. Some good news however...I've been sort of experimenting with 5 articles I wrote about a month ago while I await my good articles for my upcoming case study.

Anyway, these articles are not optimized very well but 3 out of the 5 are already on the bottom of page 1 on google! Not bad. I think I have around 40 backlinks pointing to these so far... I'll make sure to keep everyone updated.

Remember that you want a keyword that has 500,000 or fewer competing results (without quotes) but has AT LEAST double digit searches every day. Over 100 is even better.

I have never failed to get to Page One of Google in less than a week when I picked these kinds of results. My friend's website results got to number 1, number 2, number 8 AND number 9 in Google for Star Trek Computer Sound in less than 7 days (there are 1,131 daily searches for this keyword every day, as seen here).

For those who were wondering why this poster picked Panic Heart Attack Symptoms, that's because that is the exact term I gave in my example. That exact term has 315 daily searches (you can see that here) and 649,000 competing results (you can see that here). The results are a bit higher than when I wrote my guide; that's probably because quite a few people took and used the exact terms from the example.

Remember that this is because there are thieves and "black hatters" passing the PDF files around on their forums. These sites are being spammed TO DEATH by people who got the info for free and don't value the sites. Paul and I both are taking steps to prevent this, but if you have both Paul's backlinks and MY backlinks, then you have at least 80 sites; or you may even have MORE if you have my May AND my June packet. 5 out of 80 is not bad, considering that I have personally seen marketers sell ONE backlink on ONE Page Rank 5 site for $65 a month.

I am a little confused because I have been trying this experiment for some time now.. I used an anxiety product on GoArticles and used over 150 links to it.. and it is nowhere near the 1st page.. It is sitting on page 5. The competition is not a whole lot.. which is why I beleive you will get better results if you actually have your own blog or website to link to.. I have seen them rise much more sharply in the SERPS.

Well, I would certainly recommend linking to your site or your blog as well, Yasir. But I have never seen a GoArticles NOT respond well to the backlinks. That's really weird. Did you vary your keywords or did you use the same one each time?

I just bought Angelas package For what I got Im pretty happy. Some niche backlinks within the health niche also, but some social bookmarking sites too, which are just mah anybody knows social bookmarking sites so they don't add any value to the list I think.

Btw I am not negative at all, Really positive about the list its a pretty good list.

Will post in this thread how well these links work.

Re: The Angela Experiment
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Lots of people seem to be viewing this process as "either I link to an article or I link to my blog". Or that these links are one use in some way. For the same reason that Angela can sell this information to lots of people, you can use get these backlinks over and over again.

While Angela's method should be pretty much fool proof with the competition numbers she gives it's not impossible that it won't work occaisionally. So don't do this once. Don't make an article, on one site and get one site of backlinks. Make lots of articles, get them on several sites (including your own) and backlink them all.

Like so much of Internet Marketing SEO comes down to a numbers game a lot of the time. While one site/page/test can inexplicably fail, you can't know the truth without repeating it several times.

Also, don't forget to go back to older articles and backlink them again in future months. Some sites change and invalidate older backlink methods but many can be got for months on end. If you've got that top spot you don't need to worry so much but don't leave a result languishing in 3rd or 4th just for the want of another round of backlinks.

Hi Angela,

Well I used over 150 links and two different keyword sets.. in order to make it look more natural..

When I do it with my own websites they just jump to page 2 from page 20. With these articles, I never rank high enough.. maybe I am doing something wrongÉ

Actually I turned the words around and used "Panic Attack Heart Symptoms" --gets different results...

Oops sorry--I didn't realize it was part of the paid package. I simply got the original as an email.

It's not paid; it's actually free. I got confused for a few moments because I had forgotten that I also sent the information out to my list. What happened that day is that I wrote that all out for all of you (it was really good information, especially for newbies) and then it seemed to take FOREVER for the autoresponder to send it out. It was 12 hours or more. In that time, I decided to make it available for MORE folks, so I put it up where people could get it for free. Sorry about that; I DID forget about that email when I wrote that.

Well, I am not sure it made a difference, but I DO recommend that people NOT vary their keywords. Here is what I tell them:

I do not recommend varying your keywords. For instance, if you want to be at the top of Google for iPod, and you used 3 DIFFERENT keywords: iPod, podcast, electronics (as an example), then you are getting only 10 sites per keyword. You are LOSING a bunch of Google power by not using all 30,and if you are not moving up in Google, that is probably why.

Adobe is number one for the phrase "click here" out of more than a BILLION websites, with or without quotes. That's because MILLIONS of other sites used those exact words in anchor text on their site for Adobe. That didn't harm Adobe at all; it helped them. This idea about varying anchor text came about after the "Miserable Failure" prank that was played on George W. Bush. Google only takes action about stuff like this when it is
FORCED to and when it is obvious that a prank or other kind of mischief has taken place. It doesn't do it as a matter of course. I haven't EVER varied my anchor text and my name Angela is number two out of almost 80 million and my article is number two out of more than 12 million for the keyword backlinks.

I advise that people do NOT vary their anchor text.

Isn't it weird how the results change when you change the order of the words?

Hey Yasir Yar,

You want one keyword or keyword phrase linking to one article url at a time. Never vary the anchor text.

I'm not an SEO expert by any means but my understanding is that if you don't vary your anchor text you may be eventually penalized.

Everyone talks about looking natural and if every site that is linking to you uses the same exact word/phrase then it may cause an issue. I don't think it will happen right away but I think that it will happen.

Actually, Adobe comes up number one in Google out of more than TWO BILLION (that's BILLION, with a "B") competing websites, with or without quotes, for the words "click here" which don't appear on their website anywhere. Can you imagine how many MILLIONS of sites must have used the anchor text Click Here for Adobe? Adobe has NEVER been penalized for that.

Here is what I tell people about that:

Varying my anchor text too much hasn't done me any favours. I tend to be more rigid with my backlinking now in terms of anchor text. I choose maybe 3 main keywords / phrases and target one for a while, then the second one and then the third one. Every now and then I will obtain a few links with a slight variation just to add a little organic feel to it, but generally I stick with my core keywords.

So far this has been the best practice for me! My rankings are shooting through the roof at the minute.

Hello everyone,

Just woke up this morning to find yet another article of mine at the bottom of page 1 pos 8! It was de-indexed for about 2-3 days, now on first page. Not sure if these articles will convert but the articles I'm getting back later this week should make some easy sales once they're ranked. For the time being I'm just experimenting with the link packets. They're working!!... Thank you Paul and Angela
