Don't put all your sites on same host even if they are offering you different class C ips and don't even look at those hosting providers that are offering exclusive seo solutions

.

You can have a search in google for $2 hosting or anything else and you will get tons of great hosting providers at cheap price. I am presently hosting 21 sites on different hosting providers ranging from $12 - $30/year

Definitely! I do this for a good deal of sites, however some I also cluster since there are so many - I would run out of host eventually...

  I used to spend a lot of time researching the hosts and looking for reviews. What I do now instead is just sign up with any that I cannot find major complaints on. Then if I have any issues, even fairly minor ones, in the first two weeks, I request a refund and move the site to another host. If I am having issues in the first few weeks, that can be a sign of things to come.
  
  Generally, I only have an issue with maybe 1 in 15 or 1 in 20 of the hosts that I use.
  
  I've just found it to be a more efficient use of time.

Words of wisdom are often so simple, but people always look for a more complcated solutions.

Great eye-opening sentence Mike. Thanx for this tip. It is so obvious yet I never thought about it. I keep all of my "main websites" on one hosting provider and using "seo hosting" companies for class-c.

And now I just realized - why to do that when is more secure to have more hosting accounts for trustworthy companies.

For the shared hosting sites, how do you get a decent speed? I have tried shared hosting before using blue host and even at the upgraded level it wasn't as responsive as I would have liked.

This was for a regular business website. I had to switch over to get decent speeds even after upgrading on blue host.

However, moving forward I am mostly concerned for hosting for a network site. If speed isn't as much of an issue for the network, then it wont be a problem.

Speed does not matter for network sites. You are not trying to rank them.

Thanks Mike. I am assuming the list you gave up at the top of this thread (hostgator etc) was referring to hosting for your network sites. What hosting sites do you recommend for money sites?

  Ditto on stablehost and hawkhost (never used webhosting buzz). Crocweb, monstermeg, obhosting, hoststellar eleven2 all decent for PBNs.
  
  Frankly the only time you really go wrong is with resellers (they don't really have their own servers or even know how to maintain them) and kiddie hosts. it does not take that much for a host to keep a site online good enough for a PBN. I pretty much stay away from all the hosts recommended at these host review sites. The really big hosting farms are mostly a disaster. Site 5 is an exception.
  
  Don't know why it is (besides the extra setup it requires) but I have never come across a really bad litespeed host (not denying they are out there just never come across one yet)

Chris, Speed as Mike said does not matter. I get similar things from a few people I build networks for and though 95% of them listen some of them just cannot get it and I would like to stamp it on their heads.but here it is

NOTHING THAT RELATES TO RANKING MATTERS FOR A PBN SITE.

PBNs are for passing on authority not ranking. Therefore

speed does not matter

putting a whole heap of crappy plugins for SEO does not matter (they just slow down the site and half the time the stubborn customers end up wrecking their site and blaming me)

Having a niche related domain (I get this quite a bit as if pages and content do not determine relevance - I guess its the exact domain match thing ) does not matter.

Frequency of content update does not matter EXCEPT when you want google to crawl the page again for new links. Freshness has nothing to do with PBNs,

Although for the future it might matter even a spammed link source won't matter (if it did tiered link building would be completely dead)

So frankly if a PBN passes on some relevance of content around the link (and some anchor text relevance and juice then the job of the PBN is done.

having decent content is an issue of protection for your network and not junking up the internet but honestly unfortunately crappy content networks work as long as they don't get reported - for now.

Just think ranking factors and PBNs as two different things.

Mostly I use bluehost or godaddy.
Otherwise I have my personal administrator for the consulting websites biz.
Important to check that you have the backup feature (if possible set to automatic like daily) since you will have multiple sites.

I've been with SEOHosting for a while. They used to be a part of Hostgator, then they become independant, but that's a moot point since now I know the venture capitalist group EIG has bought them, and lately my sites have been down a lot. Today was the last straw. I'm moving!

Here's the list of all the hosting companies they bought:
Endurance International Group - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm probably going with glowhost simply because they're not on the list. It really sucks having the sites down. And I've been hearing about it from my clients...

Edit: I'll give it to them that their support is very fast and gets issues resolved. They just did it while I was writing this post. Still, sites are NOT supposed to be down! And not that often either.

There are a lot of $1 hosting - they are not reliable but for the purpose of PBN that's OK. But if you want some quality you should get something around $3/mo.
With my experience, Webzpro $3.35/mo is good.

Also, besides the hosts that were already mentioned, there are some sites with good (real) reviews.
Mochahost $1.95/mo
Wooservers $1.67/mo
alphabit $3/mo

I was using a SEO hosting but switching to many hosts instead.
Whoever using a SEO hosting, do a reverse IP check with your IP and you would be horrified to see how many PBNs are on that IP.

Does using SEO Hosting leave a big footprint that Google can either a) currently read or b) will be able to read in the future?

It sounds like it is a safe alternative now; however, moving forward I have some reservations with SEO Hosting because your "neighbors" are all going to be blog networks. It won't look natural.

Compared to managing domains across multiple shared hosting.

Google knows that about the only people using SEO hosts are people running networks. They have targeted them in the past and will continue to do so.

All they have to do is sign up as a customer and they can start getting the server info.

I've seen myself where 80-90% of all the sites on one IP address were deindexed overnight.
