Ok, there's been a lot of 'debate' flying aroung the forum lately about what does and doesn't work regarding SEO. So who's advice do you trust? Who are the real SEO Gurus with measureable results. Some say Stompernet are great, some say they suck!

Let's have some evidence...

To be honest, I don't "trust" anything but I read as widely as possible. As well as my own experiments I'll try out just about anything that comes my way. Stuff that works I do more of, stuff that doesn't I discard.

Anyone serious about SEO needs to be doing a lot of their own testing with less reliance on what they read in forums/blogs. The payoffs are so good for getting it right that it's totally worth the time and effort involved.

It's ok to test things if it's your own site, but if your offering SEO as a service to offline customers, it's good to know you have a reliable source of up to date techniques.

I trust no-one, I will take advice, and test it, if I don't feel it's worth my time, or that it's not working I find something else.

I can guarantee one thing to anyone here.. you need to think harder than the SEO product creators, they can only portray so much to you, the rest is still up to you.

That's based on anything SEO I've bought on SEO in the last year.. It all just seems to be the same rehashed stuff.

A great book is SEO lies by Justin Brooke

he has a great system for getting on the
        first page of google.

it's only a buck and he's the real deal

I bought that, he didn't complete the book, there was an addition to it if you wanted to know more, but i had guessed it already and called him.

He said my guess was right, but the work that needed to be done was far too much, there are easier ways to do SEO.

Maybe you could have automated it with SENuke, but I don't trust using that software.

Also I checked some of his backlinks to parts of what he had exposed and they weren't coming from the places he had outlined in the £1 book.

Anyhow I still like Justin he sends interesting emails, and I guess he has a good product, but I'm failing to catch him trying to sell me his own products lately.

I test things on my own sites specifically so I have reliable information and up-to-date techniques for my clients.

Of course I wouldn't dream of testing experimental stuff on a client's site unless they were that way inclined.

Frankly i trust the methods i've tested and i know it works. Some have a bit of this and a bit of that but in the end they are a box full of ideas and months of personal tests.

Besides, what works today, maybe won't work in a few weeks.

It's always a cat versus mouse game

I read everything I can find, put it all into a spreadsheet, eliminate things that are similar to processes I already know about, eliminate other items that look too good to be true, then run experiments with what's left. Since I have dedicated servers in different geographical locations with a lot of IP addresses, it doesn't take long to figure out if an idea really produces results.

I think stompernet gives some valuable advice. Some of their videos date back to 2005 and case study rankings still hold to this day! There was another guy in the video that had his own strange theories which seemed pretty radical and his rankings dropped.

IMHO Proof is in the pudding!

Sorry if I'm high-jacking the thread but it seems like there is a bunch of bright people in here, I'd love to see your vote in this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...ctive-all.html
