Is This Good Adsense Earnings?

I get anywhere from 1200 - 1500 visitors per day to my site. The only monetization I have is adsense. Is $350 - $400 per month reasonable adsense earning for this kind of traffic? Or should I be trying to optimize for more?

Impossible to answer without knowing your niche, but that is decent. Not so decent if your niche is say, Forex.

On the whole, you get what you pay for.

It's actually a travel blog (the one in my footer).

    Your ads are poorly targeted.

The first one I saw was an ad for the Keystone Pipeline project. The next was for a dating site.

I'm guessing this is your problem.

I thought google did the targeting automatically based on other sites you've visited before landing on my page etc.. Is there something I can do to tighten up the targeting?

At less than 1 cent per visitor (400 / 45000) that's pretty poor imo for a half decent site. I don't know what lies at the end of your "Visit here" # booknow links but they didn't work for me.

I think lead gen or some kind of travel affiliation for a Jamaican holidays company would be better than adsense. Like ghoster says - the adsense ads don't appear very targeted at visitors.I visited from UK with a clean FF browser and saw an ad to visit Roundhill in Jamaica (was targeted) but the bigger ad on the page was to visit Tel Aviv!

As I said, good site - good info on the page I visited about the bioluminescent lagoon at Falmouth (although confused - is it caused by bioluminescent algae or phosphorus in the water (I think the latter might be pretty deadly lol?) but I'm sure you can do much better monetisation-wise. Good luck with it.

If those Facebook comments are real I imagine your getting a lot of social traffic window shoppers with no intention on ever buying anything, so having PPC might be the better option. Then again Adsense might not like that traffic.

Where's most of your traffic coming from (social, search, etc...)?

It's actually mostly search engine traffic. I get a flood of social traffic whenever I add a new post. But it dies down pretty quickly...

By the way - I see you second in UK Serps for things to do in jamaica broad search. I would hope to get a bit more out of a website ranking for that than $400 a month. You also seem to rank pretty highly here for all the place name serps like lagoon jamaica (just under Tripadvisor.co.uk and Images and 1 Youtube video)

Some other UK serps - what to do in kingston jamaica - 11th (page 1 with a little push)

    bob marley museum - 7th

things to do in montego bay - 9th

I think you're on the cusp of great traffic but it would need a little push (authority - no spammy crap) and you could monetise much better imo. From what I'm seeing from here, I'd wager you're getting pretty decent traffic from the UK (which is probably good traffic for a Jamaica vacation site).

I'd say you're doing pretty well. Yes, you can optimize to get more but I would look to monetize in other ways as well. Adsense is usually one of the less effective ways to monetize traffic. Considering that your readership is probably people who can afford airfare and vacation trips, they should have enough money to pay for products or services from you.

Here's what I had in mind for the monetization. I'm not sure if it's going to be worth the hassle of the administrative work that would be necessary, but I'm thinking about creating a tour company website, linking to that site from the pages, then booking tours to these places.

After getting bookings, all I would do is contact tour companies or just the certified tour drivers down here, and have them take over from there. The problem though is that there's not 1 single company that does all the tours to the places on the site so I'd have to maintain relationships with many different tour companies and drivers.

I'd love an easier way but the only assumption I can make about the traffic is that the people want to go to these places and they may need help with the arrangements.

If anyone has any other ideas, I'd love to hear them..

Tried split testing with CPA offers/SaS merchants? If it's travel, you SHOULD have some decent buyers there

Sign up to Agoda.com's hotel booking affiliate program, i'm sure you'll make more money with that traffic. One of my travel sites making more with Agoda ever since i replaced adsense ads to agoda's affiliate links. Their commission rate (whooping 60%) is pretty good.

Thanks for that recommendation. I went and signed up for Agoda's affiliate program. I'll test it out if they accept my application but I still think I'd be leaving money on the table if this is my only monetization method.

The problem is I get the feeling that a good percentage of my traffic has already booked a hotel, and are now looking for things to do. I may still be able to do better than with adsense, but I think I should definitely give the tours a shot.

Use both adsense and Agoda and split test for couple of days or a week.

I saw your advertise here link. You might reach out to tour companies in Jamaica and offer them advertising spots on your site for a monthly fee. That way you are not dealing with the tourist.

personally i would say it would depend on the level of effort on your part, if you are working really hard on your site and only earning that much, then it's not enough.

but then again if you do really minimal work on that site i'd say that earning is already alright.

also depends if you want to earn more, then its also not enough.

Do you want passive income or do you want to create a real business?

I am assuming you live in Jamaica? If that is the case, why not start a tour brokerage? You are getting pretty decent targeted traffic and I'm sure you could work out deals with local tour providers? If a tour costs $49, have the tour provider pay you a commission on every booking you bring them? You could start out in the area you live, then branch out as your business grows.

$300 a month for a 30k monthly visitors is really poor. I get around 100 visitors a day and I make around $800 to $2000 a month only with affiliate marketing.

I recommend that you start selling some downloadable travel photos or join an airline affiliate program and start selling some plane tickets.

1200 per day is a pretty good number of visitors to receive a day if you are ranking for the right keywords, you could be making $800+ monthly.

As far as adsense is concern, if you want to make the most bucks, let your keywords have a high CPC and rank for the terms, that's the only way to earn 65% of the publishers money...

I have about 30 blogs and so far I've only made 159 dollars in the last two years. (I do better with video marketing) So 400 a month is great- it just depends who you're asking. I think you can really kill it with airline affiliate programs and hotel bookings. Also, since you have great traffic, why not think of putting up a opt in form to capture subscribers?

You need to focus on commercial content too.

    Think "products".

Maybe review the best travel companies?

Or talk about flights to jamaica.

Pick up commercial stuff, it's higher returns.

It's a really nice site, and I think you should probably be able to earn more with it considering traffic and the quality of your content. Unfortunately I can't offer specifics because I know nothing about this niche. Just a gut feeling.

On another note, I would remove your link to it from WarriorForum immediately. I have pretty good reason to suspect that I lost my adsense account because of a signature link from the WarriorForum.

Don't waste your time trying to sell airline tickets. First, flights do not pay commission so you won't make a penny. Airlines stopped doing this over 10 years ago. You could market packages (airfare and hotel but see #2). Secondly, if they are on your site, they probably already have their airfare or cruise booked and are looking for things to do.

Become an affiliate with ShoreExcursionsGroup.com, they pay 10% on all booked excursions. It is perfect advertising for your site.

If you have any questions, just let me know. Travel is my passion and something I really love.

You loss in either way. To solve this problem, you will need to block these advertisement on your adsense dashboard.
