First you need to start with the keyword research. After you get the list of potential keywords next you need to write unique meta tags for each page of your website. Solve the canonical issue if present. Add the heading tags. If homepage contains same link in the header and footer then you need to make the links no-follow. Add image alt tags. Measure the keyword density of each page of the website and also make sure the content of your website is unique. Don't forget to check the W3C validation.

This kind of question is impossible to answer without seeing the site in question. Yes, titles and h1 tags are important. Yes, mentioning keywords in content is important. Are you doing something obviously wrong? I can't read minds, how on earth would I know.

You say you know about on-page SEO. If that's true, I don't see how you'd have done such a bad job that you'd need to start over.

      - See how many pages are indexed in Google/Bing
You can do a command like site:example.com to see the list of pages
You could also look this up in Google Webmaster Tools if you have them set up.

      - Take a look at the site's robots.txt and the xml sitemap - usually available at
      example.com/robots.txt
      example.com/sitemap.xml
      Update them, if necessary

      - You'd also need to look at the site's URL structure and specify canonical URLs and/or tell Google to ignore certain URL parameters (in Google Webmaster Tools under Crawl -> URL Parameters -> Add Parameter).

      - You'd need to check and estimate internal link's structure and navigation. There are quite a few site auditors that let you see internal links and anchor texts.

      - I' also check how clean your code is (you can use a free tool like this one for these purposes The W3C Markup Validation Service) , but don't go too crazy with it, because Google did say some time ago they didn't penalize sites for sloppy HTML. Just make sure the robot is not stuck when crawling your pages. BTW, you'd be able to see those errors in Google Webmaster Tools as well.

      - I gather you have an online store? If so, then pay special attention to clean URL structure and site speed! Make sure the images are not oversized, and use caching plugins. There is a Pingdom speed text plugin that lets you test speed Website speed test

      - As far as content optimization is concerned, I don't know how good you are at keyword and competition research. But if you have already picked your keywords for the site and allocated them to appropriate pages, then you should use them in page titles, meta descriptions (some folks say meta descriptions don't matter, but in our experiences using a keyword there helps). Just don't hand your keywords over to the competitors by specifying your meta keywords - those are really useless nowadays. Then the headings and pages content should also have your keywords or related keywords.

      Perhaps I missed something.

If you want some tools to help you, there's the forum search. Screaming Frog SEO Spider is my favourite tool for checking on-page SEO, but you need to know your way around SEO to get something out of it.

    Hi WaheedAhamd,

    Thanks for your reply!

    - For website Design related issues, you have to check your competitor's websites designs and Check/Fix HTML errors using HTML/XML Validator
    - For content dulication, you can use copyscape.com, other good option is to copy a line of website content and paste it in Google for Search. Google will show the results including duplicate content pages.

Don't forget to integrate Social Media Profiles to you website.

In Pingdom and w3c validator, you should enter the URL of the page you'd like to analyze. But, again, don't try to make your code perfect. Almost any big site you take has errors.
If you go to Google Webmaster Tools and check in Crawl -> Crawl Errors and there are no errors there, and if you go to Crawl -> Fetch as Google and again Googlebot is able to do it successfully, then I wouldn't worry about some minor errors.
Here is some more information on what Fetch as Google means https://support.google.com/webmaster...r/158587?hl=en

Congrats, you made the right 1st step. Often people neglect onpage optimization and start promoting their sites with building links. Meanwhile, onpage optimization is one of the very first step of SEO which every webmaster should look into. Basically, if you can do proper on-page optimization for your website you can not only rank well in a search engine but also can increase the overall authority of your site.

When it comes to onpage SEO, first thing you need to do is to make sure that your website is 100% search-engine-friendly.

Check how pages of a site are interlinked, make sure search engines won't face any difficulties when crawling them (especially, the pages that you want to get indexed fast). Also, you need to make sure that your site is error-free and check the code of all your pages. There are lots of HTML validation tools that will help you with this. Next you may want to check your pages load speed.

When done with that, you can proceed to your content optimization. You need to run keyword research and surface the most traffic productive keywords for your niche. After you find those, optimize your pages for them.

That may sound complicated, but in fact, it isn't.

Luckily, there days there are a lot of online resources that can help you master the whole process. You can search this forum to find answers to the basic onpage SEO questions. And here is a step-by-step on-page SEO guide:

The ultimate guide to perfect optimization of a page structure

    Hope all this will help.

These two have little to do with optimization. You can use robots.txt to limit pages from being indexed, but it's not one of the first things you should be looking at.
