You can never have too many keywords, but those you do target should be "buying keywords" - those typed into a search engine when the user knows what they want and are looking for somewhere to get it.

You can target more than one keyword per page, it depends on the amount of traffic each keyword gets and the type of competing pages. If competing pages are all authority sites, you'll have a hard time getting top rankings.

  • I recommend targeting a couple keywords for your HOMEPAGE only, since it will naturally get the most amount of links. After that you should really only have 1-2 phrases that help each other on your inner pages as they only get their power mostly from interlinking unless you can write articles and get some backlinks to those inner pages.

Easy ten minute method find your highest ranking competitor and use their research to your benefit.

All the tips so far are good you just need to figure out your main focus and if someone else is selling this product then they did your work already thank em :-) and build on that until you out rank everyone.

If I were you, I'd find a good phrase that includes several other keyword variations within it. For example, if you were to find that "buy weight loss pills online" is a good keyword (I'm being facetious...of course it is!) then you could not only target "buy weight loss pills online" but also "buy weight loss pills", "buy diet pills", "purchase weight loss pills", etc.

You see, with a phrase like that you not only are sure that people are already in a buying "mood" when typing it into Google but you also have tons of different variations which you could target.
