I am an Operations Manager for a Real Estate Firm and we want to rank a YouTube video for the keyword of just the agents name. There basically is no competition for this word.

The video has been on YT for quite some time but does not show up in Google (unless you click to search videos).

How does one get a video ranked for a very easy keyword???

Rank the webpage, the video is attached to the page. It's basic SEO.

You have to build backlinks. If its a low competition video just order some fiver wiki links. Then use the agents name as your primary anchor text. After a few days check ahrefs to see if the links are getting indexed. If not, order a second gig on fiver to get the wiki links indexed. That should be enough to rank it on G. All you need is a few backlinks.

Just a side note. Ahrefs does not equal indexed.

As for the rest of the comment, not the kind of thing I would recommend for a real business. It might work short-term, but it is only a matter of time until Google starts smacking videos for those kind of links, just like any other site.

    Yes that is true.

But if the video is new (which I'm assuming it is) then it probably doesn't have any links. So any links that show up in ahrefs will most likely be indexed.

Also, I've been hearing about this Google slapping YT videos for years now, and still haven't seen any cold hard evidence. I check my video rankings everyday and spam is still working great. Doesn't mean it will be like that forever, but I just don't see anything happening soon. The guy is just trying to rank for someones name. So I'm not sure what method you would prefer instead? Should he build his own private network? Just to rank a YT video that could probably be ranked with 10 wiki links? Should he do a press release? Guest posting?

I'll admit, my seo kung fu skills are nothing compared to yours Mike, and I know how you vets grimace at the sound of "fiverr", but we're talking about ranking for a name. Thats as low competition as it gets.

It wasn't all that many years ago when people were saying the same thing about links in general. Then all of a sudden Penguin hit.

I agree. It should be relatively simple to rank for, especially locally. I honestly would probably start with a link from the main website, make sure the video is embedded on the website, toss it on their Facebook page, and maybe link to it in YouTube from another video. I might build 2-3 Web 2.0 sites to link to it too. That would probably be enough.

Definitely no private network needed, and a cleaner solution than spammy links. Still keeps the cost, outside of a little time, to nearly zilch.

The other thing about this is that if the Agent's name is an extremely common name, it might be more difficult to rank for. Try to rank for 'Bob Smith' and it could be a doosey. I know, because I have one of those kinds of names. I wouldn't even think about trying to rank for my name. If it's for 'Thelma Biebeshiemerthal' then not so difficult.

If you want, PM me the name/video and I'll see where you can optimize more...
