Hi Guys, i am a newbie in SEO and was working on keyword research. Since google has launched the new google adwords keyword planner i was abit confuse on how to use it.

The competition column is indicating how many people are using the keyword for adwords campaign right? or it is indicating how many website using this keyword?

I can always use the tools to determine the search volume, but how do i know this keyword is competitive in the search engine ranking? Any free software of website can help me to analyst it?

My goal is to find a niche long tail keyword that have moderate monthly searches (propably >1000), and have minimum competition from organic search.

Thank you in advance

Just the way you use the keywrod planner to see the monthly search volume you use to do basic keyword research. You have 4 boxes in the AdWord Keyword Planner, instead of using the one with the Monthly Search Volume use the New Keywords and Ad Groups one!

For any deeper data please use Moz: Inbound Marketing and SEO Software, Made Easy they are unbeatable.

You can put up a trial account and measure keyword competitivness, amount of links and type of links via opensiteexplorer.com (free). The keyword and serp deeper analysis is paid (but as I told 30-day free)

    Use it, it's worth!
