Firstly apologies for the excessive use of the word month in the title

I just wanted to share with everyone what I did to increase my earnings by so much!! I manage a few blogs/forums etc and I had always used just standard ad formats... mainly the recommended ad sizes.

I noticed some of the ads were a bit to big for mobile devices mainly the smaller ones iphone, ipod etc so I went looking for a way to dynamically change my ad sizes based on the screen size..

Someone suggested using Google adsense smart sizing ad format(which I had no idea about) and boom within a few days I started earning double, triple ++ my previous earnings.

If you already use them I guess it won't help but if you were doing what i was doing id suggest giving it a go!

It's important to "tweak" ads around once in a while and also ensure you have a well optimized ads for all form of devices, considering that a larger percentage of internet user access the internet with their smart phone, it would be detrimental to neglect mobile ads optimization. Am happy you find out soon enough, enjoy your revenue.

Yes exactly everyone asking what is wrong with their adsense / website I immidiately suggest changing to the smart sizing ad + of course the website needs to be responsive in 100%.

Does anyone know if Blogspot is responsive.

I'm thinking of using only Google owned properties (Youtube, Google + and Blogger) for some Adsense ads.

But, only if Blogspot is responsive. Anyone know for sure ??

Open your webpage in a desktop browser where the browser is about 1/2 the size of your monitor. If you see a horizontal scrollbar across the bottom of your browser your page isn't responsive. If there's no horz. scrollbar, it's responsive.

For one day but didn't notice anything may be earnings decreased

My site is In HTML One page and i see ads with different sizes make my site looks ugly ?

Seems a bit excessive, but either way a good tip.

It's good that you found this out, as many site owners struggle with this specific problem. Many people are visiting sites on mobile devices now, especially forums and if we don't accommodate those people with mobile friendly ads, then it's no wonder ad revenue would be down.

Optimize and maximize your ad Adsense sizes.

Two days ago I changed from a 468X60 ad to a 468 X 120

From what I have seen in the past 48 hrs I am gaining approx
$4 per day.

  Every site is different, but why not go whole hog and put an even larger ad?
  I have no custom ads, as there are not too many ads. But I love
  the 336x280. Why not do that one? 300x250 supposedly is the most
  popular, ad inventory-wise, that is. Why not do a responsive ad size?

  I''ve done good with the 336x280 and 300x250 ads.
  
  But text links shouldn't be underestimated, especially if you put a horizontal block of them at the top of your article. The nice thing about them as well is that they don't look so intrusive as standard ads.

  So, another adsense newbie question.
  
  If you create a group of ads and do not use all of them on your site, are
  all of the ads being bid on by adsense users ?
  
  Say you have 10 ads built, but only use 3 are the adsense bidders bidding on the three you have showing on your site, or all 10 even though 7 are not showing ?

Out of these two 336x280 and 300x250, which one you will recommend for having in right side bar.

BTW I already have two 336x280 with in the contents of posts.

  336x280 has always brought me a good CTR, but having too many ads of same resolution may decrease competition between available ads, resulting in poor CPC. For better performance, use a responsive ad unit elsewhere on your site and place the 336x280 ad unit in sidebar. BTW sidebar has never been a productive place for me
  For me, ads above content, within content and below content do good and at the moment, I'm running responsive ad units in all available spots.

Nice tip!

If you have a responsive site that's using Twitter Bootstrap or another framework then add something like class="img-responsive" to your ads - then they'll shrink on mobile devices. It works especially well for 728x90 wide banners.

Great share. Thank you OP.

I had no idea about this either. I went ahead and replaced one of my unites with the smart sizing ad format version of it. And in just one day that unite's earning from clicks made on mobile devices increases by 600%. Yes, 600%!

So, it does seem like a great idea to test out for those who are wondering about it.

The only thing that is stopping me from changing all unites is that for some reason even on my desktop the ads are displayed as if I am viewing the site/ad on a mobile device. So, for example I normally have 300x250 inside the post. But when I changed to the Smart Ad Sizing Format, even on my desktop the ad displayed is mostly 468x60.

Anyone has any idea about that and whether or not this is the norm. Thanks again OP.

I could not find this "Google adsense smart sizing ad format" in my google adsense account. There is one by the name "Responsive ad unit (BETA)". Are these two same. If not, then where I can find this "Google adsense smart sizing ad format"

Side note to everyone else:
Please test things always. Just because my change helped to increase revenue, it doesn't man it would for you too. It depends on many different factors specially your niche and your audience. Unless you test things, you will never know.
