Should you host similar affiliate sites at different hosting companies?

I'm setting up 5 affiliates websites, all pointing to the one product. All these websites will interlink with one another to help boost each others seo (so that they have other "related" websites sending them links.

Should i set these websites up on the one hosting account? Or on separate ones with different companies? Or does it matter?

What would be the advantage to hosting with different providers?

Google might expect that you'd simply set up 1 really good affiliate review website instead of a few.

My answer would be different than the OP's. I used to host all my sites with one host. That host literally disappeared overnight, taking down over 100,000 websites with it. I was out of business with all my sites. If I had them spread out over multiple hosts as I do now, I would have only had about 25% of my sites go down.

By the time I got all my sites back up and running I lost a lot of sales. I found $200-300 a year in additional hosting fees to be pretty good insurance.

It's paid off a couple of times. Once when a major storm hit the city where some of my sites were hosted it knocked the host out of business for over a week. Their back-up power was wiped out too, so those sites were out of business for that time, but my other sites kept functioning and bringing in sales.

Another time was when EIG bought out a host and the sites hosted there were routinely broken until I moved them. Again, most of my sites kept functioning and bringing in sales because I had them spread out over multiple hosts.

Not exactly what the OP was looking for, but I thought I'd mention it since it's a good reason for using at least two hosts. I use four.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Thanks, I'm really only worried about google though (and ensuring i get those affiliate sites ranked as good as possible in the serps).

I would have thought if you kept backups of your sites, that it should only be a matter of a few hours work to transfer them to another host if that hosting company went down for some reason. Doing that seems easier than trying to get used to the different interfaces across a whole bunch of hosting accounts ...as well as keeping track of login details and so on for them.

Btw, did you find the sites performed better on separate hosting accounts than they had been performing when they were on one?

What year roughly was that? (As google have tightened up their game alot in the last few years with regard to affiliate review sites)

Google doesn't care. Host them all with the same provider.

For what you are doing, Google doesn't care. It will make zero difference.

For the reason Dennis mentioned, it is not a bad idea to have different hosting accounts.

Put them wherever you like. The idea you have reads epic fail anyway.
