Hi everyone, since so much changes in the SEO arena is there any reliable and "accurate" software with which you can find high traffic low competition keywords for SEO purposes? I have been using Market Samurai but seems they got lowered significantly their reputation by switching from Google data to Bing. Anyone still using it?

Which seo tool are you using? Which one would you recommend? What is your experience?

I still think Market Samurai is one of the best keyword research tools. There are way too many 'wannabe' tools that will try to fool you into thinking they're better, but really if you talk 'keyword research software' you really can't beat market samurai (although traffic travis' research tool is also not a bad option)

Well, I have used the Google Adwords tool to find the keyword research. This tool will show the keywords analysis according to the local, and global searches. You can use this tool free of cost with your gmail account. This tool also shows which keywords have high competition.

That competition is for Google AdWords, not for SEO. But it's true that Keyword Planner (previously Google AdWords Keywords Tool) is essential, especially if you're optimizing for Google.
It's just that there are tools built on top of it that provide additional data.

          That's actually not quiet true

Please tell me which "valuable"information the Keyword Planner gives in terms of SEO.

Suprised that you even say it's essential with your background.

All tools based on the Keyword Planner are totally useless for SEO since it shows nothing!

@SEOMasters, it's essential in a sense that it allows one to know, from the horse's mouse straight, how many people searched for certain keywords on Google. In this respect, it's as first-hand information as it gets. And because it actually helps one identify popular keywords, how can it be useless for SEO?

Most of the tools mentioned here lack a lot of details to do a reliable keyword analysis.

For something more you should check out Moz's keyword analysis tool or SerpIQ.

Those do take important things like internal linking into account, eg Page Authority, as well as Domain Authority, however the latter should be taken with a grain of salt, DA is more beneficial in terms of internal juice flowing but they add to many points to it.

Interesting... and a lots of options for Market Samurai, but my questions remains, is MS still uses the data from Bing? How is that better than getting it from Google? That's the main reason I stopped using it few years ago, and just wanna know if anyone still get good results from it after all the changes

Adwords, wordstream and wordtracker are best tools for keyword suggestion but our primary preference was always Adwords as it fetches and gives data of Google where most of the people search for information.

Hi, I think I can help here.
I run my own SEO business and have tried lots of tools out there.
I've tested campaigns and links on "low comp" keywords across most of the tools out there.
Although any keyword tool should just be used as a guide IMO, here are my thoughts.

Here's my thoughts on a few tools

Market Samurai- I bought this a long time ago and really found it only useful for checking whether the sites had the kw in the title/description - not very accurate on the comp level on a whole though. I have run small campaigns for kws found in MS and had little success but then I didn't really expect it to.
There's some niche additions to this tool so it still has it's uses

LTP- Glitchy but when it works, it seems okay. Not really much to report as I had so many problems with it freezing that I kind of gave up.

Keyword canine- I don't personally own this but a friend of mine gave me unlimited access.
I thought it was actually really good, and worth the money if you actually take action on the keywords that you find. They have a nice addition to the tool which gives you some low comp niches too- I really liked this tool actually.

Seocockpit- Hands down, the best and most accurate kw tool I have used. Only problem is that it's expensive so if you don't put your plans into action when you find a keyword, the fees can quickly add up (there is no lifetime option). Unless you run an agency or have all day long to build sites on keywords you find, you might want to do a join venture on this tool or use keyword canine. As with any tool though, you still need to use common sense and although it does look at the incoming links, it does't differentiate between relevant and non-relevant links which is where you need to use you "noggin"

Anyway, I hope this helps and it should save you a bit of money if you are in the market for a new keyword tool.

    Cheers
