Backlinks to social media don't show up?

I had an analysis done of my auto blog with IBP and it revealed less than 20 backlinks to social media.

Yet regular posts have been made to i.e. a fanpage, delicious, diigo, twitter. There must be hundreds by now.

They all have shortened links from either bit.ly or hootsuite, but I understand that link shortening does not hurt link juice.

So why are my hundreds of links over the past 4 months, let's say, not even showing up?

Does it take months for all my links to be indexed or is there some other explanation?

Thanks!

Those links are not really going to help you and stop bothering yourself with checking your backlinks for them.

As was said before the links from social media sites are mostly no follow and even the ones that are followed can take forever to show up if at all. Social media links are only worthwhile if someone actually posted an article and it got traction.

You're much better off getting links from quality sites that are relevant to yours but seeing as you have an autoblog it's highly doubtful anyone would give you such a link.

You can wait years, they'll still be useless links as far as SEO goes.

The back links are not really worthwhile because they always tends to show off fake articles.

"Social signals help SEO" is a theory that many people do like. I can understand why: it helps to justify the time you spend dicking around with social media.

On the other hand, Matt Cutts has said that Google is hesitant to give any particular value to social media sites. It's hard to keep the data fresh because they get blocked all the time, and may even get wrong or irrelevant results because everything is so heavily personalized. Seems like a fair point.

Majestic SEO seems to be quite bad with Facebook and Twitter backlinks.

Except for google+.....FB links are not really links anyway, twitter links are seen, not heard,
so I have no idea why majestic would be "bad."

That's like saying a worm is bad at swimming. While true, makes no sense to say it.

Yeah, insert the obvious disclaimer about Google+.

I've checked a few sites that I know to have quite a lot of Twitter or FB links. Majestic doesn't seem to register any of them, or even list the site as a source. They're backlinks so you could expect the service to show some. However, I don't really care, it doesn't seem relevant to me, and I didn't say that to blame Majestic.

Sorry, I don't get what you mean by "not really links anyway". The links on FB pages are perfectly normal. They're just crappy, nofollow, and buried to a ton of unneeded markup.
