Adsense Keyword Tool gone?

I need a tool that estimates search volume for certain keywords.

There used to be a tool for Google Adsense where you could type in a keyword and it would estimate the number of searches on a monthly basis. It looks like it's been replaced by something called Keyword Planner, but it doesn't work very well. I used to be able to get estimates on relatively obscure keywords, but with the new Keyword Planner I don't even get low number estimates.

Am I doing something wrong? or is there a better alternative you can recommend?

    I use Long Tail Pro and it works like the Keyword Planner. From what i can see, it displayed the number of searchers per month globally and locally. You might want to check that out. Second option, the Market Samurai. Actually one of the best keywords tool and preferred by most bloggers. Though, i never use it myself.

    New Google Keyword Planner is good, too. Just get yourself familiarize with it. Most paid tools are also scrape the data from GKP.
