I have seen a single page website, with minimal content and backlinks ranking in high position for a high competition keyword like 'data entry india'. This is not for an instance it is regular on 9-12 position for the keyword.

does anybody have an idea how can this is possible? is there any new technique?

    Is this right?
According me, keywords rank depends on the website/ webpage quality as per Google algorithm.

    thanks

Back in august I sold a website which had 5 pages pf content, a privacy policy, contact us page and an about us page for $1750.

I got it ranking 1 for its keyword but competition was low right enough.

It's not hard to build these sites at all. It all depends on how you go around link building. If you can get some very high PR links, you will be laughing.

Has NOTHING to do with quality. It has to do with relevance and "trusted" websites linking to your site.

You don't necessarily need much content to rank in Google. It's about relevancy, and that page just may be relevant for that search. Backlinks will help a lot.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

check the backlink history of the site. It should have very high quality link backs to push to site.

I think we have come full circle. Back in the "old" days people were putting up EMD's with minimal content and ranking them just fine. Then, a series of Panda/Penguin updates destroyed that model to some degree. However, I am starting to see smaller sites rank again. For a time I thought there was an algorithm filter for small sites but I no longer think that is the case.

You people just don't search the way normal people around the world
      search. They don't search for
best wii games on the planet for lefthanders living alone
But you build a site for that, make a zillion idiotic posts, and
      think hey, content is king.

Of course one page websites rank high, have authority, etc.

How many people search for online alarm clock?

A whole lot more than the above example, that's for dang sure.

I also suspect that "data entry india" is a well spammed niche,
      garnering likewise results.

What's the fascination with a one webpage site? They have external backlinks, what's the big deal?
