Adsense Advice Please

I am creating a blog using the CTR theme. It is in the healthy living (weight loss/weight gain/healthy recipes) niche. I know it is a highly saturated niche but I thought I could use my own testimonials and many friends to gain some ground through social media.

My first concern is that Adsense seems to have a track record of banning accounts. I would hate to put time in and begin earning only to have the money taken by Google. Should I consider another ad network?

What are the best ways of generating traffic in a niche that will be impossible to rank with SEO? Social media, paid ads? If I go with Adsense what traffic sources are safe?

Is there anyone who has been successful with Adsense and if so are earnings of $100/month reasonable to expect with a little work promoting the site?

Not using the ctr theme would your first step. That theme has some rumours about it being connected to banned adsense accounts. I've seen far worse inflictions on their TOS than what that theme does, and still alive today, so I wouldn't know for sure.

But if you're in this for the long run, start by using a clean looking theme and implementing your adsense there. You really don't need to risk your account using an "adsense theme" to make money from adsense.

Its true there are rumors, but those are just that - RUMORS. I've been using the CTR theme for as long as I can remember and have even tweaked the ad display boxes.
That theme does give you a high CTR, but the problem is many people use the "push down" image feature and also put image ads just beneath that. When that happens, an user gets to see JUST the ads when he first opens the site in any standard browser. To see any content he'd have to scroll down.

Now that's against Adsense TOS. So, its better to avoid the push down image feature.

Ok so here is the response from support for CTR theme. Not sure is I understand. I just want to know what not to do or what size should I use for good CTR but good grace from Google.

        Hello,
The Pushdown Ad is the medium for attention-grabbing advertising.
Large Pushdown Ads has a large format. If user touches this banner with his mouse, the area flips open that had previously been hidden.
You can check how this Add works on the link mentioned below:
        MSN
Further, There is no setting to diasable large push down ads as yet. However, there is a setting to set up Add banner to various sizes mentioned below.
        1: 160*160
        2: 336*280
        3: 728*90
        4: 728*15
These Adds will rotate when the page will be refreshed.
