After having watched dozen of tutorials about MS at Noble Samurai, Youtube, Vimeo, I am more and more confused!
What are the metrics you use in M. Samurai to determine main and secondary kws for anchor text, name, url, etc. considering Exact Match and Monthly in the Keyword Research panel, please?

Keyword research is very hard to do, and everyone will give you a different answer and a different way of doing things. That's why each tutorial seems to be the same but the process is different. Fro example if you are researching keywords for adsense site, you want them with high CPC, very little competition (other webmaster not advertisers) and high advertisers.

    Here's my strategy
    * Everyone has their own but this works for me.

    KW Research Module:

Total Searches: Min > 3000 exact match per month (Anything less is not worth my time)
Title Comp: How many pages have the KW in their Title (Higher usually stiff competition)
AWCPC : Zero or very little tells me that market is not worth getting into

    SEO Comp Module:

Domain Age: At least 3 spots with DA < 2 years
Domain PR: At least 4 spots with PR < 3
    Citation Flow: 30 or lower
    Trust Flow: 30 or lower
Page Backlinks: Tricky because a page with 10 quality links could outrank page with 100 spam links
All On Page: Less than half all "Y"
Basically it boils down to "The more green the better"

I will then go and check the top 10 sites individually, BL quality, Sites linking back to them, their
    KW strategy and so on.

These will give me indication of difficulty in out ranking top 10.

Salegurus: Does that apply just to Adsense, or the figures for Amazon and Clickbank, etc follow the same criteria?
      Thank you

I know I sound like a broken record saying this over and over again, but MS is a total waste of time. Their training teaches a lot of bad habits.

You have 3 competitors, no matter what the keyword is. You need to determine if you can beat them. That's it.

And forget what salegurus said above about search volume. It depends what you are selling/offering. Some of my most profitable keywords get under 200 searches a month.

Exactly this, each situation is different.

I'm working on a local keyword that's only 700 unique traffic per month, the PPC cost is $10+. I expect at the very least $200 - $300 profit per month from that one keyword with my page ranked #1 in organic SERPs.

Once I get things tweaked for the first couple of local cities I'm scaling up big time & repeating the same niche over & over... That 700 monthly traffic might seem small at only $200 but when the same/similar keyword spread out over multiple states is repeated the traffic/money adds up.

I see a HUGE potential in these low volume keywords.

Over the past few years I've targeted high volume keywords simply because that's what it takes to make decent money from low dollar monetization. To be honest, I'm glad I'm switching focus to local SEO, I was starting to get burnt out on the same niche. I think the change of pace will keep me motivated.

Yeah, I read it. I was just pointing out that it was a bad strategy without knowing what the OP is trying to accomplish.

    Mike is 100% correct.

Market Samurai is awesome if you like lots of numbers and data that don't have much importance.

Pick your keywords, look at the page 1, and more importantly, the top 3 competition. Can you beat them? Learning HOW to analyze the competition is much, much more important than the data MS gives you.

I also agree in that # of searches isn't nearly as important as some say. An extremely targeted keyword that gets under 250 searches a month is much more valuable than a broader keyword that gets more than 1,000. And they're usually a whole lot easier to rank since most people are programmed to ignore them.

Would you rather spend your time ranking 4 extremely targeted keywords, or 1 that isn't as targeted? Especially if the 4 keywords have weak competition.

Ouch. Hopefully they are easily replaceable. Good luck with that.
