No basis on that as far as I know. Spaces and dots or any special characters are (I think) omitted by search engines when crawling your site for content. What is important is that you properly established and optimized your on page SEO, particularly your meta tags.

While spelling and grammar mistakes on a stellar level may have an impact on rankings, a little spacing and full stops here and there shouldn't really affect your site's serps by much. Badly spun content certainly will though, far worse then duplicate content ever will.

IMO, this is wrong. Duplicate content is worse than spun content. I'm not saying spun content is good, but I've seen badly spun content rank more/higher than duplicate content.

What do you mean extra space? Do you have "end of sentence.New sentence" ... like that with no spaces? If you already have a space after your period or comma, you are fine. If you don't have a space at all, I would add some. Don't assume crawlers are smart enough to see that as "sentence . New" ... they most likely see it as one word, "sentence.New". Also, adding a space makes it more readable.

A lot of people confuse how to end sentences on a typewriter and on a computer. If you Google it you can see the recommended way to do it. Most important thing is that users expect a quality site to practice consistency in their punctuation and spacing. For seo it shouldn't matter.

He's said something about grammar as far as I car remember, but did he really say what you think he said? Of course serious grammar and spelling mistakes can affect your search engine rankings. Write your keyword wrong, and you wont be found unless Google makes a lucky guess in your favour.

I agree that you shouldn't be overly worried about it.

by extra space means, the word start immediately after comma or full stop, for example
Wordpress is famous CMS.It is one of the best blogging software, but have some security reasons.
In the above paragraph, i've added no extra space before the words it and but.Should i write it as

Wordpress is famous CMS. It is one of the best blogging software, but have some security reasons.
Now there is extra space before It and but.

Why do you keep saying "extra" space? I see only one added space in the corrected paragraph, which is the way it's supposed to be written. If you have trouble with English then download Ginger. Put your articles in, hit the go button and it will fix everything for you.

A few mistakes here and there wouldn't hurt, but overall the grammar is certainly a part of the overall ranking algo

The bigger problem is looking like an incompetent when a potential buyer lands on a sales page full typos, etc...

Yes I agree with Yukon. I landed on a squeeze page where there were typos and as a result that person lost a sale. It just doesn't look professional.

Exactly, it really effects, better to have error free content but as per Matt Cutts grammatical errors in comment section mean no worries.
