Hello,

This will be my first niche site. The keywords have 3000 local hits per month with an Avg CPC of $6. Here is the data from Long Tail Pro:

The sites with 100 Domain authority are Yahoo Answers, Piniterest and YouTube. The one with 98 is a newspaper website. What do you all think?

Cheers

Any time you see Yahoo Answers and Youtube videos it's a good sign. Should be easy to rank.

Thanks for your reply. Anyone else would like to confirm? Do you think it will be good one for me to chase as my first niche site? I am knowledgeable on the subject and I am interested in it.

That screenshot doesn't tell us anything about your competition.

Look at the competition backlink profile & check the ranked site/s to see how serious the comp. is about the exact keyword & very similar keywords.

      This advice is the best

always check your competition out forget about all that other stuff

think about it if you can't rank against the competition what good is the data you showed

The #1 biggest mistake is to not check out the competition

search counts and CPC mean nothing if you can't rank

Thank-you both for your reply, I really appreciate the help

The screenshot in my opening post was an overview of the competition. It is the top 10 results on Google. Sorry if this was not clear. So do you think my next course of action would be to go to each of these sites and check it for keyword competitiveness for the niche keywords I have selected?

    Thank-you again for your help.

Check the competition for the position you want to rank for in the SERPs. If you want the #1 SERP position, research the backlinks for that domain/page & the #1 ranked site internal pages to see If they're serious about ranking for that keyword. Again, the OP screenshot doesn't tell you anything about SERP competition.

Then of course there's the question you should ask which is...

Do I actually want to rank for this term? Is it going to make me money?

Every keyword/keyword phrase converts at a different rate.

Marketer A makes 1 sale for every 100 search visitors
Marketer B makes 4 sales for every 100 search visitors.
Marketer C makes 10 sales for every 100 search visitors.

Marketer A ranks for broad keywords.

Marketer B ranks for targeted long tail keywords like "how do I get rid of {name of condition} naturally" etc.

      Marketer C ranks for visitors at end of buying cycle. EG buy {product} online, order {product}, where can i purchase {product}

Same product. Different keyword phrases. The more targeted the phrase the better the conversion rate.

Say you were promoting a product for keloid removal.

It would be a good idea to rank for multiple low comp long tail keywords rather than broader keywords with greater search volume. Quality is better than quantity.

So using Google Instant enter words like "how do i get rid of a keloid" and you'll discover lots of keywords you would never think of (see image below)

      Use these for posts titles.

Use them for keywords for ppc campaigns.

This is how I find great long tail converting keywords in any niche.
