Getting AdSense around ad blockers

Hi guys

I saw an article this morning about Google's getting around ad blockers by replacing AdSense banner ads with text ads if the user blocks banners. Has anyone tried it? Is it the default behaviour or does it need to be configured?

Here's the article http://medium.com/founder-insights/1cd39942289e

Thanks

Actually, not really. Google has been known to pay off ad blockers...
and that's exactly what they are doing.

They are not getting around ad blockers, unless by "getting around" you
    mean bullying their way through.

The more ad blockers are paid off by google, the more benefit to google.
Wow, they would actually want people to start blocking ads....can you
imagine? A world in which you only see google ads?

    Misleading title, to be sure.

What makes you think someone who went out of their way to to purposefully download an ad blocker would click you on your ad regardless of whether or not their ad blocker failed?

If anything I'd bet they'd avoid it even more so out of spite. I want people to click on my ads who are genuinely interested in what's being advertised.

People block ads because the get conned into thinking it's some panacea.
Hardly. They could care less if they get shown ads. They just want to
be "protected" from some sasquatch lurking in the woods.

Does anybody really care about getting ads on google.com? Apparently not.

Not to mention google's shift to mobile.

How many people are techies and can actually block ads on an
android phone? Next to none, most likely. And the world uses
android...google has people in their hip pocket.

Most ad blockers even block text ads.
