I redesigned my website around 6 months ago and made it (I think) in line with google guidelines, but still 6 months on im not ranking at all.

I have sitemap, registered on webmaster tools, analytics etc. no warning in webmaster

so whats the problem!???? I can understand maby not being on the 1st page anymore, but im nowhere to be seen!!

any help appreciated before my web design work goes down the pan!

thanks all

This is normal... Most people have a very good ranking (#1, #2 or #3!) in Bing and sometimes in Yahoo... But THEY have a different ranking algorithm. Concentrate on your Google ranking as you will still be on the TOP in other SE's. Be sure to get backlinks from AUTHORITY websites and an important thing to pay attention to is keyword density!

I'm curious of your Google+ power.

Continue building good authority backlinks and build a Google+ empire connected to you site. Google love's it's own search engine, that will help quite a bit.

You have a blog going, but you stopped in December it seems, keep going with the blog that will help too, fresh UNIQUE content is key.

My first thought was bad back linking however at a quick glance you back link profile looks pretty good except you have had a huge drop in pages back linking to your site this year.
Also when you redid your site did you change the Meta title and H1 tag?

That will kill your ranking in Google.
Also did you ensure your keyword density was close to the same when relaunching the site?

google+ I have not really done anything with...perhaps I need to look at that

yes, I changed the h1 and meta (but kept very similar with keywords)

I think the drop was because I took links of clients websites (footer links "web design by craig Longmuir" type pf thing - read these links could have been bad...!)

blog - ok yes I need to keep posting

    thanks

Ok Ya changing the title a meta usually requires a re score and it can take a while to get your results back.

Links are a scary thing now. I try to do no back linking at all now and I used to build back linking services. So removing your back links was probably Ok. One thing I have still been doing if leaving a footer image and linking from that

Like a miniature logo I haven't see any evidence of penalties on Image links yet. If your clients will let you have them, Its a safer bet because they aren't really keyword anchors which is what Google is looking for.

ok, I did the full re design (basically whole new site) end of October, so its been a while!

my ranking was lost probably a year before that and I tweaked the previous site with no results....new site, still no results

Is it the site in your signature? If so I see a glaring issue.

Take a look at cloaking your affiliate links and also you need to do something to get your content more unique its the exact same thing as Amazon.
    hxxps://yoast.com/cloak-affiliate-links/

    Or Google Search

For this site I would 301 it to a .net version or another similar domain to test it for a month. This thing deffintly looks penilized and the only thing that stands out is the link profile.

If you don't trust a 301 I have some examples I could show you where it has worked great to get me out of penalties.

301 redirect would just pass on the "bad link juice" no....

assume I would need to get a new domain, copy over the site as is (but using 100% new text content) and start fresh???

      worth a try?

Your homepage is not SEO optimized for "Sydney"

I'd use keyword phrases such as:
    Web Design Sydney
    Sydney Web Design
    Web Designer Sydney
    Sydney Web Designer
    etc.

The above phrases and other similar phrases placed in the content, description, etc. will surely help your google rankings
