How Does Google Treats Redirected Links?

I was ranking a client for 10 number #1 rankings. We had URLs like this: http://www.myclientsite.co.uk/. Without asking me, client went and started hosting his site on Shopify.com. Now client's URLs look like this: http://myclientsite.shopify.com/ That was a bad move, but I have to deal with it now. Rankings are far more important than site itself.

We did redirect, inside Shopify.com and URLs redirect correctly from old to new URLs. Problem is that, Google dropped our old URLs out of SERP for all the keywords and it is not ranking new URLs at all. Google thinks that we are sub-domain on Shopify.com and possibly it is ranking us in US instead in UK.

I am constantly building links to maintain rankings. Should I point these links to old or new URLs and just wait for site to come back?

I dont understand the issue, you made a 301 from the old adress to the new addres right?, you know you have to make a 1 on 1 marching to the urls, because if you just make a 301 from all the urls to the domain it is obvious you will lost the ranks on the other pages, you are pointing all your links to the main domain.

Being a sub domain does not matter to rank.

forget about the old domain , your main focus is start showing the new URL on the top 3 of google, the 301 should kick in soon enough, how long have you waited?

      Huh? You redirected in Shopify????

You need to redirect from your old domain TO Shopify, directly from where your domain is registered.

In all above formats you can publish your website But Use Canonical tag in all for only one type website.

For the better results you can use 301 redirect for all at Example Domain
