To use or not to use your Geo Location in your SEO Keyword and Article Marketing?

Hi there,

I would like to do two things with my keyword search.

1) rank high for my coaching company in my region. It's a live service, so it would be great to come up ranked high whenever my city is involved in a search (even when not related to my field of coaching).

2) rank high for some online things I will be offering later, including ebooks and membership site.

I can really incorporate my city/geo location in the keyword search, but is that a good idea?

Should I do a general search for some top level terms without my city?

Of course, I'll try both, the specific city results will be lower, but how would I interpret the data different? What do I need to consider?

Will probably be using Market Samurai and Google Keyword tool.

I've found that getting ranked for geo locations is quite easy. I also do reverse mortgages and I'm ranked very high for "Dayton Ohio reverse mortgage". I pretty much own the page when you type that in. It's a lot easier than just plain "reverse mortgage" which is about impossible to get top spot for.

Really just a couple of articles and videos will work wonders.

One thing about doing searched including your city (i.e. geographic location) I found is that it drastically reduces the numbers you are going to be considering. That's a given of course, but depending on your city, the numbers (i.e. search total, local search, etc..) all drop so that it's HARDER to tell what are good words and what aren't as there is LESS contrast in the results.
