Do I transfer seo ranking when I forward a 2013 post to it's 2014 equivalent?

I have a good ranking post around based around "keyword Y 2013"
Now I have made a new post based around "keyword Y 2014" 1 and 1/2 month ago.
And this one gets it's only traffic trough a link on the 2013 post. It ranks badly.

Is it SEO-wise a good idea to forward the 2013 post to the 2014?
Any one out there with the same problem of needing to update a post yearly? How do you solve this?

    Why not keep that same "2013" post and just update it every year, instead of making a new post for every year?

      I agree & If they're able to use PHP they could completely automate the yearly date change with one line of code per instance of on-page date.

      Example:
      PHP Code:
      I bought a new <?php echo date("Y") ?> Camaro.
      This year the above code will read:
      I bought a new 2014 Camaro.
      Next year the code will read:
      I bought a new 2015 Camaro.
      This way you only have to edit the date once.

    The "keyword 2013" is also in my site url.
    I think it helps with ranking those pages.
    And probably the click through from search engines too. As I myself wouldn't even click on an old url link.

    But if you know other options I'm happy to learn of them?

    If you expect to continue to get traffic to the 2013 page in the years to come, I would recommend not redirecting visitors to the 2014 page. Rather, SEO the 2014 page and retain both streams of visitors.

    Also, you can interlink all of these pages to increase your page views.
