What are best setting for campaign?

I have been doing ppc for about a month now, and need a little advice.
When starting a new campaign, (1) Do you select google search partners, or just google search? I don't use the content network.
(2) Do you allow Iphone and mobile devices?
(3) Do You chose the United States and Canada, or Just The United States? I know this depends a little on the product, but in general, which do you choose.
(4) Do you select manual or auto bidding.

I have been selecting just google, no iphones or mobile devices,US only, and manual bidding.
Just curious what people better at this than me do. Thanks Glenn

    1) I start on the search network. I may use the content network if I feel it might give good returns and only when goals are reached on search. Although a few clients insist on doing it all right away despite explaining.

    2) Unfortunately, Google doesn't separate data in their reports so you can't test unless your create a campaign for each. My feeling is that there would be nowhere near the same amount of traffic. But mainly depends on niche and feeling if mobile device users would search for and be interested in the offer.

    3) Again, depends on niche. A client in the children's clothing business doesn't because he feels the extra shipping cost is not worth it. Others, especially those with downloadable products want all English speaking countries.

    4) Manual. You should also select Rotate and not Optimize.
