Ok here is my question.

Does social bookmarking site that have redirects help your SEO.

EX: PNV / Published News

they redirect your URL but it is a dofollow. How does that come into play with SEO?

Thanks,
Brian P

Yea i understand that it will get my site indexed faster but my page is already indexed.

I am looking for link juice. So I was wondering if anyone knew about how redirects go into play.

      Thanks for your input though

I'll be honest, I don't know the true answer to that, but I would think that it is not beneficial in regards to SEO (link juice) because with the link being a redirect, it's using its own link and then transferring the visitor to the target URL. That means that the link juice is going towards the web 2.0 property.

Now, I haven't researched to see which sites are redirects only, but I can certainly run a test on my next project and see whether it's any good or not. I'm constantly running tests and keeping the results for my next book. So this may be something to look into and get rid of all the rumors and confusion.

Again, just from what I understand about SEO, I would have to say that the redirect is no good for your PR or ranking in the SERPs.

No - the google spider continues spidering until it reaches the final page/site.

It is able to notice that a php re-direct is not a site and is just a re-direct thus it gives the link juice to the site being bookmarked.

@ rjowais.. It is for sure efficient but OP was trying to ask a different question that i myself can't answer correctly but i think so i agree with Kevin at this point.

@ OP.. I never tried bookmarking in aspects of SEO but i just do it to get some decent traffic and specially UV's everyday so it works out for me in that manner for sure
    Thanks

As far as my experinece, Social bookmarks drive a huge traffic regardless of dofollow or nofollow. The reason for my statement is, I am getting more traffic via delicious.com too even if that is NOFOLLOW site. There are about 265 people bookmark one of my site with some more competitive tages, That really a helpful thing even in the eye of google, it works for me, However, Yahoo gives more than google for delicious as Yahoo and delicious are having more close relationships... :p

I'm not sure how those links are going to be counted as backlinks but bookmarking sites are quite useful to generate good traffic and to get your pages indexed faster in SEs.

The google bot is smart enough to find the site, and pass the link juice. Further, I would not rule out even Delicious or other high ranking nofollow sites. I would recommend including them in the mix. If all your links are on dofollow sites and you are suspiciously absent from the sites where you naturally should be having the most links, it will not help.

Make your bookmarking look natural. Natural link velocity, natural variation of anchor text, natural distribution of links over time and natural mix of social media sites.

Well as most of the guys here, Me too do not find the exact thing, but even it re-directs or not, who cares it... Google loves dofollow bookmarks and it gives some points and lift us for keyword search... So, I do dofollow social bookmarkings....

even though the links go through a php redirect, the google bot is smart enough to still crawl the links as the redirect is not blocked from the robots.txt in my understanding.

It could be possible that Google tracks the redirect and actually give you benefits. You never know when you are working on Google
