Creating Text Hyperlinks For Silo Structuring

I need to begin creating a web silo structure throughout all my image catalog pages on my index page. See the drop down list on far right of my top menu under "Cartoon Catalog"? That "Automobiles"---->"Banking"---->"Bigfoot"->ETC. Should I use the same text, "cartoons" throughout each page and link them to each respective URL to that keyword? This is my only mind-boggler. The rest seems pretty simple, i.e. that last page "youth spot" would of course link back to my index page. Am I interpreting this in simple terms, other than my "mind-boggler" choice of linking text?
